-Alone She Sleeps- by Keaton Foster Alone she sleeps Next to me she seems She is as far away As could possibly be Her and I are as one In the eyes of God But no one else Most of all us I call her wife She calls me husband She assures me that there Are things between us That can never be undone I agree because of all That I have done I am responsible I did what I did Without concern for her Without a care for us I am a crooked man In her world full of straight She knows where she is going Her path has always been defined If anything, I have been a speed bump A detour that she just needs to plow through She so desperately wants to leave me behind In her wake, suckling on her dust Her promise to God with regard to us Is quickly coming to mean less and less He will forgive her if she fails His kindness, his sympathy she deserves She knows him well, far better than most I will not be forgiven, how could I be A cruel rule of slide that God dabbles in He will punish me for my sins Even if I don't believe in him He will make an example of me And so should he I am doomed by my actions Condemned by my choices I can blame no one, but myself Alone she sleeps Next to me she seems She is as far away As could possibly be By the break of dawn Her and I will no longer be as one We will be two separate beings On completely different paths Hers has always been defined Mine has not… Alone She Sleeps Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012 Biography
