A Thinker
pondering life

The meaning of existence
I hear people say,
Is to awaken at sunset
looking forward to the day.

But what about of us thinkers
who ponder all life?
Who hold onto everything
from happiness to strife?

How do we find our place
in this cold heartless world,
When life has no meaning
no what or what for?

I know I feel as a statue
that is covered in dust,
Who can't shake the burdens
of past betrayed trusts.

Who lingers in still moments
that have scared me within,
and give me no reason
to even begin.

So I awaken at sunrise
full of self doubt,
for even my slumber
I did do without.

So here's to the people
who tell me how I should be,
walk with me in my shadows
see what I see.

For we who are thinkers
will never be sane,
So stop trying to remake
what we ourselves cannot change!
