Abduction: A Draco Malfoy Love Story
Part 2

Writers Note: In Part 2, some of the things differ from the original storyline. Of course, they did originally as Ridley isn't in the story, but this time, all this to do with Umbridge leaving, well, it doesn't happen. It's supposed to be so I can organise the plot better. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the second installment of my tale.

Chapter 1:
'Miss Riddle, pay attention please.'
Ridley's head shot up as Professor McGonogall peered sternly at her through her glasses.
'Sorry Professor.'
Five years had passed since Ridley's first day at Hogwarts, and she was still as dozy as before. Until a few moments ago, she had been doodling the Dark Mark on the corner of her parchment. She tried covering it with her hand as Professor McGonogall walked over.
'I see you haven't written anything since the lesson has started. Would you like to explain why?'
Ridley shrugged, 'I didn't see the point.'
'Excuse me?'
Ridley flared up, her temper hadn't changed either, 'I already know this stuff. What's the point of wasting ink writing something I already know?'
McGonogall's nostrils flared, 'And what's the point of wasting ink on childish drawings?'
'Childish!'
Ridley stared at her, fuming. After a few moments she stood up, grabbed her bag and walked out. She heard a few sighs as she left the room, and she knew why. This was the fourth lesson she'd walked out of this week. She sighed and sat on the floor in the corridor, breathing heavily. She put a hand to her head and grimaced. What was wrong with her? Fred had said it may have something to do with her father returning, but she didn't think so. Ironically, just as she thought this, Fred walked round the corner. He caught sight of her and walked over, a hopeless grin on his face. He sat down next to her and kissed her gently on the cheek.
'Again, Rid?'
She shrugged, 'McGonogall's being a pain.'
Fred sighed, 'Rid, look at me.'
Ridley turned her head to face him. Her eyes drifted up from the floor and finally locked with his.
Fred cupped her chin with his hand, 'What's the matter?'
Ridley looked away, 'Nothing.'
Fred sighed again, 'Ridley, please. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong.'
'Well maybe I don't need your help,' Ridley covered her mouth, regretting it insantly. Fred looked downcast.
'I see..'
Ridley took her hand away from her mouth, panic in her eys, 'Fred, please. I didn't mean it.'
He exhaled sadly and put his arm round her shoulder, 'I know.'
Ridley rested her head on Fred's shoulder and looked down at the floor again. She couldn't possibly tell him. She couldn't possibly tell him that last summer, her and Draco had spent most of their time in the Malfoy Orchard, kissing and whispering sweet nothings to eachother. She couldn't possibly tell him. And he couldn't possibly know. Near the end of the holidays, Ridley had tried telling Draco it was a mistake. That she loved Fred. But now, as she sat next to him, she wasn't so sure. She knew it had been almost a year ago, but she still couldn't help but worry.
Ridley stood up.
'Where are you going?'
'Common Room. See you later.'
Fred looked a little lost for words, 'Uh... Bye then...'
Ridley turned round and began walking towards the dungeons. Thoughts raced through her mind. This had gone on for five years now, why had it taken so long for her to decide between just two guys? She remembered the look Draco had given her that time five years ago, when they had gotton off the Hogwarts Express. At the time, she didn't know what that look was for, but later she had found out it was because Draco was jealous of Fred. In no time at all, Ridley had made her way to the Slytherin Common Room, said the password (Mudblood), and made her way to the dorm. She stepped tentitavely through the doorway and looked round. Although she'd been sleeping in this room for five years, it still didn't seem right to her. Like something was missing. Almost like she belonged somewhere else. Ridley flung her school bag at the foot of her bed and sat on the floor. She hummed a tune she'd heard a muggle playing on their iPhone a few weeks ago. That was another thing wrong with her. Recently, she'd become very interested in the habits of muggles. Somehow, she couldn't find what the Malfoy's hated about them. For one they had much better music, there was a wide variety that spoke abouty true things in life. things you could relate to. Their art was beautiful too, and the way some of them dressed. In some ways, it seemed muggles were more developed than witches and wizards, even without magic. Ridley stood up again, not knowing what to do, and made her way down to the common room. Unexpectedly, Draco was sat in one of the chairs.
Ridley stepped back in shock, but instantly the shock was replaced by frustration, 'Am I not allowed just five minutes alone? What are you doing here?'
Draco looked at her, as though puzzling something out, 'You've changed.'
'Wha-' Ridley was taken aback. How had she changed? She was still Ridley. Still had Voldemort as her father. Still struggled between Draco and Fred.
Draco stood up and closed the distance between them, 'You've started caring.'
'Oh, so you're saying I was heartless before?' Ridley was insulted. She hadn't done anything and people were still nagging at her.
Draco sighed, 'Look, that's not what I'm saying, okay? I-'
'No. It's not okay. Leave me alone!'
She turned to leave but Draco grabbed her wrist.
'What's happened to you?'
Ridley looked at him. His steely-grey eyes were full of innocence, but she knew better. He wasn't innocent. Yet still, she hesitated.
'What do you mean?'
Draco loosened his grip on her wrist and stepped closer to her. There were now mere centimetres between them. Draco took Ridley's other hand in his own.
'What happened to the Ridley I used to know? What happened to the Ridley who would kiss any guy and pass it off as a joke if it went wrong? What happened to the Ridley who could make me hate and love her at the same time? What happened to the Ridley... who used to be my best friend?'
It suddenly dawned on Ridley what Draco was trying to do. She tried to tug her hands away but he tightened his grip again.
'Do you think I'm stupid? Don't try playing the guilt card on me, honey, it ain't gonna work.'
'You don't love him.'
Ridley stepped back in shock, forgetting momentarily about Draco's still firm grip on her wrists, 'W- what?!'
He sighed, 'You don't love him. Not anymore...'
'I- I do...' Even as she said it, Ridley knew she wasn't being entirely truthful.
Draco sighed, 'Ridley, please... No you don't. You stopped loving him ages ago. And I don't think he really loves you that much either.'
'But I-'
Draco pressed a finger to her lips, 'Remember last year when you had that argument? Remember how he asked Angelina Johnson to the Yule Ball? Remember how he never even attempted to ask you first? If Fred was really as special as you say he is... Why would that happen? And why would you still have feelings for me?'
Ridley's eyes welled up. It was true. Finally, she realised. The only reason she hadn't given into her feelings yet was because... Fred was too nice a guy, but that didn't mean she loved him. She just didn't have the heart to break up with him.
Yet, as Draco moved in on Ridley, she placed a hand on his shoulder, stopping him from moving any closer.
'Wait...'
Draco brushed a strand of hair from her eyes, 'What is it?'
Ridley pushed him away further slightly, 'I- I need to think about this...'
Draco groaned but nodded, 'Okay, okay...'
'Thank you.'
Ridley decided, she would have one last attempt at reconciling her love for Fred before deciding on her true feelings for Draco. After all, Fred was making all this effort to be with her... She should at least do the same, right?
Ridley stepped to the side, out of Draco's reach and walked towards the door, not daring to look back. She had to find Fred.
As though by magic (which I can assure it wasn't), the first person Ridley saw as she stepped out of the Common Room, was Fred, sat on the floor, waiting for her.
'Oh! Fred!' Ridley leapt into his lap, giggling.
He grinned, 'You've cheered up!'
She smiled back, hoping he couldn't see the pain in her eyes. Thankfully he didn't.
'So... What happened?' he asked, placing a ahand on the small of her back.
'To what?'
'Why you had to go to your common room.'
'Oh, that. Um... I had to... Return a library book. I thought I'd better sort it out seeing as I has time. Y'know, with me walking out of my lesson.'
Fred frowned, 'Oh... Then why don't you have the book now?'
'Oh, Pansy returned it for me.'
Ridley hated lying to Fred. But what else could she say? "Oh yeah I just ended up nearly making out with Draco"? No.
To change the subject, and to take her mind off things, Ridley made her fingers walk up Fred's arm. It was her usual persuasion technique, and Fred's way of knowing she wanted something.
'So... Fred...'
He smiled and cocked his head to the side, 'What?'
'Would you mind letting me stay at yours for the Summer holidays? I know it's only 2 days away but I'm getting tired of staying at the Malfoy Manor. There's nothing to do. And I like your house.'
Ridley had spent two previous occasions at the Weasleys: On her 13th birthday, and for Christmas last year.
Fred sighed and smiled wider, 'Sure. But I'm gonna have to check with mum first. I'm sure she'll be fine with it though; she loves having you round.'
Ridley grinned, 'Thank you, Fred.'
He placed a kiss on her cheek, 'You're welcome. Anyway, I'll leave you to it. I believe you have some packing to do... And a detention unless I'm mistaken.' he added with a smirk.
Ridley laughed and pushed him playfully before standing up.
'See ya.' Fred said, waving.
'Bye...'
As Fred stood up and began walking away, Ridley clenched her fists. This had to work.

Chapter 2:
Two days later, Ridley was on the Hogwarts Express, heading to the Burrow. In the compartment with her were Fred, George, Ginny and Lee Jordan. Fred, George and Lee were playing exploding snap, whilst Ginny was reading the Quibbler. Draco had requested to sit with Ridley as it was the last day they would see eachother for the whole holiday, but Ridley had declined. Now Draco was sat somewhere on the other side of the train with Crabbe, Goyle and... Wait. What if he was with Pansy too?
Ridley stood up suddenly.
Fred looked up, 'Where are you going?' he asked, as she opened the compartment door.
'I've changed my mind. Maybe it is better if I sit with Draco on the way back. After all, he isn't going to see me for another six weeks so I guess I owe it to him.'
Fred sat back in his seat, looking put-out, 'Oh... Okay...'
She laughed slightly, 'I won't be long. Promise.'
She kissed him lightly on the forehead and left the compartment, heart racing. If that cow had her hands all over Draco, (which she probably would), Ridley would show her who's boss.
Ridley's pace quickened, as did her walking speed. She paid no attention to the people in the other compartments. Eventually, she made her way to the end of the train, and opened the carriage door. The scene that met Ridley's eyes was one very similar to what she had been playing in her head. Crabbe and Goyle were sat next to eachother, looking glum, and opposite them was Draco, his head on the lap of Pansy, who was stroking his hair, a smug look on her face. Ridley sashayed over to Draco, trying to look as irresistable as possible.
Draco looked up, and his eyes widened. He scanned her from head to toe. Her dirty-blonde backcombed hair, poker straight. Her kohl-lined stormy eyes. Her full red lips. She looked amazing!
Pansy folded her arms moodily as Draco sat up entrely and stared. Then, he smirked.
'I knew you'd come round eventually.'
She grinned, 'Couldn't stay away.'
Pansy frowned, 'Go away Ridley. You have your own boyfriend.'
Ridley rolled her eyes and sat next to Draco. He pecked her on the cheek, not wanting to give anything away. As far as he was concerned, him and Ridley were already dating, just secretly. Ridley on the other hand, was busy deciding who she preferred, and right now, it was Draco.
Pansy stomped her foot on the ground, 'Why can't I have him alone for just five minutes?! God, Ridley!'
Draco smirked, 'Aww, Pansy. There's no need to be jealous. I'm not dating her... Yet...' he added with a grin.
Pansy gave Ridley a death-glare before averting her eyes and looking out of the window.
Draco's face turned to an excited one, 'Anyway. Seeing as Ridley's here, I can tell you all the good news now.'
Ridley turned to him, 'What is it?'
Draco's eyes glinted maliciously, and his voice turned to a whisper, 'The Dark Lord's taking up headquarters at our Manor. Can you believe it?!'
Ridley stood up, 'What?! My father's coming to- Ohmigod!'
Draco nodded, grinning, 'Yeah... Shame you're spending the summer at your boyfriend's. Otherwise you two would be able to have a little bonding time. Y'know, with you not seeing eachother for 16 years and all. Wait! Where are you going?'
'I need to talk to Fred.'
Draco stood up and grabbed her arm. His voice turned to a hiss.
'Don't you dare tell him. Otherwise we're all screwed.'
Ridley stepped back, feeling hurt, 'I- I wasn't going to... Draco...'
His arms fell to his sides, 'Sorry. I didn't mean to be like that.'
Ridley shrugged, 'It's okay... You didn't mean it...'
Draco stepped back and Ridley opened the carriage door again. As she walked back to her compartment, her mind raced. Was her father really staying at the Malfoy's? How long would he be there for? Would she actually see him? What if he decided to come to the Burrow and... What if he hurt the Weasleys? What if he hurt Fred?
Ridley decided this couldn't go on any longer. She had to break up with Fred.
Ridley opened the door to her compartment again and sat down.
'Fred, I- Mmph!'
Ridley was about to begin her break-up line but was stopped short by Fred kissing her. Ugh. Why were these things so damned difficult?! Now how was she supossed to break up with him? She pushed him away half-heartedly.
'Wh- what's wrong, Rid?'
'I, uh... I can't say...'
Fred knelt down and held her hands in his own, 'Why not?'
'Because you wouldn't understand... It's do do with my father...'
Fred's eyes widened, 'You know where he is?!'
'No, no, no. Nothing like that...'
Another lie. Great. Someone would find her out soon. At least this time it wasn't a total lie. There were other things on her mind too. Like the guy sat in front of her.
'Oh... Okay...'
Fred sat back in his seat and continued his game of exploding snap with George and Lee. Ginny came and sat next to Ridley, looking at her meaningfully.
'You're going to break up with him, aren't you?'
Ridley put her head in her hands. Unexpectedly, Ginny put a hand on Ridley's back.
'Hey. I'm not mad at you. You've given him five years of your life and I'm sure he's grateful for that, but, people drift apart, right?'
Ridley lifted her head slightly, 'Wha- You mean, this is normal?'
Ginny shrugged, 'Sure. I mean, you and Fred have had like the longest relationship in the school. You were bound to break up sometime soon.'
'But... How am I supposed to tell him?'
Ginny smiled gently, 'Just sit him down tonight, tell him it's not working, and if all goes to plan, you two can still be friends and you can bunk in my room this holiday.'
Ridley smiled, 'Thanks, Ginny.'
She laughed, 'Hey no problem, I'm your friend. That's my job.'
And with that, she buried her head back in her magazine and no more was said on the subject.

*

A few hours later, Ridley was at the Burrow and had unpacked her things in Ginny's room. Fred didn't know about these arrangements yet, which was good, as Ridley didn't think she could bring herself to tell him yet. At this very moment, Ridley, Ginny, Fred, George, Ron and Charlie were all in the orchard. Ginny and Ridley were at under a tree doing their seperate charms homework and gossiping about Umbridge, whilst the others were playing 2-a-side Quidditch a few metres away. Ridley rolled on to her back and stared up at the branches above her while Ginny was speaking.
'...I mean, there was that time when I was snogging Dean, and she just flung us apart. What the hell is wrong with kissing? If we were doing, y'know... more, then that would be understandable. But we weren't. Wait, Ridley? Are you even listening to me?'
Ridley looked up from the daisy she was fiddling with, 'Huh? Oh, sorry Ginny. I guess I'm just distracted today is all...'
She looked over at Fred, who had just scored a goal. What if she still did have feelings for him? After all, she wouldn't be having so much trouble with this if she really didn't feel anything for him...
Ginny sighed, 'It's okay. I understand how you feel. I wouldn't be able to focus either if I was in your position. Still, It is a bit of a shame you and Fred are breaking up. You two were so good together.'
Ridley frowned, 'What do you mean?'
Ginny raised her eyebrows, 'You mean you didn't notice? How you and Fred seemed to glow at the sight of each other. How we always knew when you were thinking of each other because of that smile you both used to do. How you wouldn't be mad at Fred when he woke you up just because it was him who did it... How you both used to cuddle up to one another on the sofa at night. And how, whenever you were upset, Fred was the only one who could comfort you...'
Ginny looked down sadly, and Ridley closed her eyes. What was she doing? What would she do? What had she done?
Ridley stood up suddenly.
'Wh- Where are you going?' Ginny asked.
'To talk to Fred.' Ridley said, not looking back.
'Ridley. Don't do it now. Please.'
'I won't. Promise.'
Ridley walked over to where Fred was. He noticed her and landed on the ground. George yelled overhead.
'Fred! What are you doing? Ron and Charlie are gonna beat us if I'm the only one up here!'
'Just a second!' Fred shouted back, 'What's wrong Rid?'
Ridley closed her eyes and took a deep breath, 'Fred, do you love me?'
Fred frowned at the unexpected question, 'Well yeah. I-'
'Fred. Do you love me? Or are you just attracted to me? Because I don't know if you noticed, but we aren't really going anywhere.'
Fred frowned more, 'What are you saying? ...We shouldn't be together?'
Ridley shook her head, 'No. I'm not saying that. I just need to know. I mean, what about Angelina? What if you decide to go for her again?'
Fred grasped her wrists and looked her deeply in the eyes, 'Ridley. I have never, ever, ever loved someone as much as I love you. And I never will. Forget Angelina, okay. She was... Okay I did like her. But not as much as you Rid. I need you.'
Ridley nodded softly and closed her eyes. Why did she even ask?
Just then, Mrs Weasley walked outside.
'Come on. Dinner's on the table.'
Fred looked back at Ridley, 'I'll prove it to you.'
Ridley raised an eyebrow quizically. How?
They all walked back inside and sat at the table. As Mrs Weasley dished out roast beef, Ridley wondered what Fred meant. What was he going to do?
About half an hour later, when they'd all finished and had moved on to a dessert of chocolate fudge cake, Fred got up from the table and walked upstairs without a word. The reaction from everyone was varied to some degree. Mr and Mrs Weasley clasped their hands together expectantly. George and Charlie grinned. Ginny had her eyes wide open in horror. And Ron looked just as confused as Ridley felt. She looked round at everyone.
'Wha- What's going on?'
Ginny whispered to herself, 'Please don't say he's going to do what I think he's going to do. I thought we all talked about this. Oh God this isn't happening.'
Suddenly, it dawned on Ridley. And before she could even begin to panic, Fred walked back into the kitchen.
He stood in front of Ridley, his hands behind his back. Then, he brought one hand out and wrapped it around Ridley's, before kneeling down, and placing something in it. Her eyes flicked up to his face. And all she could think of were two words: Please. Don't.
Fred sighed and prepared himself, 'Ridley Riddle. We've had a hell of a time together. Five years of it. And I've enjoyed every minute. Now I know I don't seem like the serious type and I know you won't trust me until I fully prove myself to you. So... Ridley...'
He withdrew his hand slowly to reveal a small, red box.
'...Will you marry me?'
And he opened it.
Fuck.
Inside the box was a beautiful silver, princess-cut ring, embedded with a tiny, glittering emerald. Ridley stood up immediately and turned to walk out of the room.
Fred grabbed her hand, 'Ridley? What are you doing?'
She tugged her hand away, 'I can't do this anymore,' and walked out.
But Fred wasn't giving up without a fight.
As Ridley stepped out into the cool, evening air, Fred grabbed her wrist again.
'Ridley, please don't do this to me.'
Her eyes welled up, 'Don't you understand?'
He shook his head.
Ridley took a deep breath and looked past his shoulder where everyone had gathered at the doorway to watch this unexpected scene. Ridley looked back at Fred.
'I can't be wth you anymore.'
Fred looked as if his whole life had been crushed, 'B- but... Why?'
She looked at the ground. It was now or never.
'I'm in love with Draco.'
Ginny gasped, 'What! You din't tell me THAT!'
'What? You knew about this?'
Fred had turned to look at her, a complete look of frustration and hurt on his face.
Ridley closed her eyes again and tugged her arm away from Fred. She looked at him one last time. Poor, innocent Fred. Why did it have to be this way?
And then, she ran.
Ridley tore away from Fred and pelted up the garden. She dashed through the gate and continued to run as fast as she could. How far were the Malfoys from here? Miles away, probably. But she couldn't run that far. Wait. The Lovegoods didn't live far from here. Maybe she could use the Floo network from there. Ridley tore towards the direction of their house, tears streaming down her face. Just a few hours, then she'd be with Draco. It would be all over.
But then, as though Karma had acted, it began to rain.
Ridley slowed down, overwhelmed by tears. She sat down in the middle of the field she was in, and began to sob. Her black tank top clung to her skin, and her skin-tight jeans were weighed down by all the water. Not to mention how soaked her hair was...
She took great shaky sobs as she thought about everything that had occured these past few days:
Draco. Fred. Her Father. Lucius. Narcissa. Ginny. Ron. Molly. George.
Oh God, The Weasley's would never forgive her...
Ridley fiddled with some wheat as the tears streamed down her cheeks. Why did her life have to be so goddamn complicated? It was so easy for everyone else; if they liked someone, they'd tell them. If they broke up, they broke up. No-one had ever been stuck between two people for five whole years and had a Father who just so happened to be the darkest wizard of all time. Ridley put her head in her hands; now she knew how Harry Potter felt being the Chosen One. Well, maybe she didn't; his situation was different. But he still had just as much of a struggle to get through everyday life.
Ridley paused. It was a random thought, but she decided to change her hair colour, just to be ironic. She scrunched up her nose, just like she did every other time she changed her appearance, and changed her hair from blonde to black.
With a final sigh, Ridley stood up just as the rain began to clear. She squinted in the distance. It seemed the Lovegoods house wasn't so far after all. How long would it take? 15-20 minutes?
Ridley wrung some of the water from her newly changed hair and began to walk. She went slowly; pondering over what she would say. Ridley tried out sentences in her head: "Do you mind if I use your Floo Network; only I've broken up with Fred." "Me and Fred have broken up and I had to run away." "I'm in a predicament. Can I use your Floo Network?"
Each sentence sounded stupider than the first, and by the time she had made her way to the Lovegood's front door, she was stuck for words.
Ridley closed her eyes and rung the doorbell, heart pounding.
Thankfully, Luna opened the door. She looked quite shocked to see Ridley there, but nevertheless let her in without question and gestured for her to sit down.
Ridley shakily made her way over to an armchair by the fire and sat down. Luna sat opposite her with some knitting. Ridley grinned. Trust Luna to be doing something so ordinary as knitting. Luna cleared her throat.
'So... What's the matter?'
Ridley sighed, 'Well...'

Chapter 3:
Once Ridley had done speaking, Luna sat on the floor wide-eyed.
'So... It was never actually working between you two?'
Ridley grimaced, 'Well, it was originally... I guess we just drifted apart after a while.'
'So why didn't you break up until now?'
'I guess... I stayed with him because... People expected me to. Everyone thought we were perfect and I saw no reason to break apart. Until now.'
'Oh...'
Luna seemed to think about this for a while, until finally, she sighed and stood up.
'So, do you want to stay here tonight or... go home? Daddy has a muggle car he can take you in.'
Ridley laughed bitterly, 'I don't have a home. I'm no Malfoy.'
'Hey,' Luna placed a hand on Ridley's shoulder, 'You're still family. Whether you last name is Malfoy or not.'
Ridley shrugged, 'I'm not so sure anymore...'
'Come on,' Luna held Ridley's hand, 'You can stay here tonight.'
Ridley gave in to Luna's slight tug and stood up. Luna let go and getured for Ridley to follow her upstairs. At they began to ascend, Luna spoke again.
'Do you have any of your things?'
Ridley shook her head.
'Heh... That much of a hurry to get away, huh?'
Ridley exhaled, 'I guess... Oh Luna I feel like crap. Why did I have to do this to him.'
As they made their way into Luna's room, she sighed.
'Ridley. Don't worry. Break-up's happen to everyone. You're not alone, okay?'
Ridley scoffed, 'Easy for you to say.'
Luna placed a hand on her shoulder, 'I may have never had a boyfriend. But that doesn't mean I don't know what it's like for others.'
She sighed, 'I guess you're right. Sorry... I just... I don't actually know whether I still love him or not. It's so confusing.'
Luna smiled understandingly, 'It's okay. You did the right thing. It's better to break off and think things over instead of staying with them and being even more unsure of yourself. Besides, I'm sure when we go back to school, you and Fred will still be good friends.'
Ridley shrugged and sat on Luna's bed while Luna stood up and walked over to the other side of her room before rummaging through her chest of drawers. Eventually she stood up.
'Ah, this will do.'
She tossed something black over onto the bed. Ridley picked it up. It was a short, black satin nightdress. The hem had some loose threads, as though Luna had had it for a while. Nevertheless it was still pretty, and looked almost the same as the one she usually wore. Ridley looked up at Luna, unable to find the words to thank her.
Luna smiled, 'It's okay. You're quite welcome.'
She sat down next to Ridley and looked at the dress.
'It was my mother's... She used to wear it when she was about our age... My father decided to give it to me when she died...'
Ridley's grip on the dress slackened, 'Oh Luna I'm so sorry. I don't have to wear it-'
'No, it's fine. I'm perfectly happy for you to wear it. It's no good sitting in a drawer now, is it?'
Ridley looked down at the dress sadly, and a thought occured to her: Who was her mother? She knew who her father was. Everyone knew. But not once had the thought of a mother occured to her.
Luna seemed to sense something was on Ridley's mind.
'What is it,' she asked, putting her hand atop of Ridley's.
Ridley shook her head, 'It's nothing... You know, I think I might actually go back to the Malfoy's tonight. You don't mind do you?'
Luna smiled kindly, 'Not at all. They are the closest you have to a family, after all.'
Ridley nodded. Tonight she would get answers. Fred and Draco were unimportant. She needed to find out where she came from, and who her mother was. Somehow, she felt there was a bigger mystery at hand.

Writers note: So sorry for the unbelievably short chapter. I'll make the next one longer.

Chapter 4:
About an hour later, Ridley was stood outside Malfoy Manor. The gates were locked.
'Oh sweet Jesus,' Ridley said to herself, 'Now how am I supposed to get in?'
She walked back to the car, where Xenophilius and Luna were waiting.
'Mr. Lovegood, do you think you could send a Patronus in to tell them I'm here. I can't use magic in the holidays.'
'Of course I can, Ridley! Anything to aid a friend of Luna's.'
He sent a Patronus speeding toward sthe Malfoy Manor, and moments later, Narcissa came rushing outside. Ridley ran up to the gates.
'Cissy!'
'Ssh. Listen, you need the Dark Mark to get in. Lucius will be able to open the gates for you, but Xenophilius can't be allowed to see. You have to say good bye to Luna first.'
Ridley groaned. Great. She needed the Dark Mark to get into her own home.
She ran back to the car, 'Erm... Right. I'm okay now so, thank you for driving me back Mr. Lovegood.'
He nodded in response. Ridley walked up to Luna, who was sat in the back seat.
'Thanks for everything, Luna,' she said, hugging her. Although the situation was awkward, with the car door being there and everything, the gesture was still comforting.
As Luna and her dad drove off, Ridley walked up to the gates, a frown on her face.
'One thing: I am not getting the Dark Mark. Understand?'
Narcissa nodded, 'I'm fine with it, but I'm afraid you're going to have to take it up with your father.'
Riddley halted, 'You mean he's here already?! ...Shit.'
Narcissa frowned, 'What?'
Ridley shook her head, 'Nothing. Can someone just let me in; it's starting to rain.'
Narcissa jumped slightly, 'Of course. Hold on.'
She ran back to the Manor hurriedly and returned a few minutes later with Lucius. Lucius lifed the arm of his sleeve to reveal the Dark Mark and the chans holding the gate snaked back, allowing the gates to swing open. Ridley walked in cautiously, but then, as though something overtook her, she ran in. However, she stopped again at the Malfoy's dining room door. She could hear people talking.
'My Lord... Are you sure of this-'
'Of course I am. Now, what we need to do is-'
'But my Lord-'
'Crucio.'
Yup. Her dad was in there. Ridley shakily stepped back. She didn't want to do this...
Narcissa crept up behind Ridley, 'Your father's in a meeting. Draco's waiting upstairs if you want to go see him?'
Ridley swallowed nervously and nodded.
'Thanks Cissy,' she whispered.
Narcissa nodded in reply and gestured for her to go upstairs. Ridley ascended them slowly, not wanting to disturb the meeting downstairs. Once she was on the first floor, however, she ran full-pelt towards Draco's room. She slowed down once more as she reached his door. There was a few moments hesitation before she knocked gently. She heard footsteps, then the door opened to reveal Draco. He was wearing faded jeans and a tight white t-shirt. He grinned at her.
'Uh-oh... What happened?' he couldn't hide the smirk on his face.
Ridley smiled back sadly, 'Do you need to ask?'
'Awwww...' he said, enveloping her in a comforting hug.
She buried her head in his shoulder and a tear rolled down her cheek. Draco stroked her hair softly while hushing her.
'I like your hair by the way,' he said.
She smiled, 'Thanks.'
They pulled apart and Draco sat on his bed before gesturing Ridley to sit next to him. She obliged.
'So... What did happen?'
Ridley sighed, 'He proposed to me...'
Draco spluttered, 'What?!'
She nodded slowly, 'Yup. I know, right?'
Draco seemed speechless. He just sat there with his mouth open, evidently trying to say something, before closing it again and staring in shock.
'You're screwed when you get back to school,' he finally managed to say, 'You're gonna have him, George, Ron, and Ginny on your case. They won't leave you alone.'
'I know. I know,' she replied sadly.
Draco put his arm round her. Not in the way she'd expected though. It was more of a brotherly hug than anything, and Ridley frowned. It was as though everything he'd said previously had been a lie, and he actually didn't feel how she did. Ridley pulled away from his embrace.
'What is it?' he said, looking hurt.
Ridley sighed, 'I just wasn't expecting this...'
'All... What?' Draco looked confused.
'You said you loved me.'
'Wha- I do! I just...' his voice drew to a whisper, 'I just feel uncomfortable with the Dark Lord being here is all...'
Ridley smirked; it was quite amusing seeing her Dad being referred to as 'The Dark Lord'.
'What?' he looked at her, confused.
Ridley laughed slightly, 'It's nothing I just... It's wierd... So much has happened...'
Draco sighed, 'Yeah... I know what you mean.'
Just then, there was a gentle knock at the door. Draco tightened his grip on Ridley slightly and spoke up.
'Come in.'
The door opened slowly and Narcissa stood at the door.
'Your father would like to see you, Ridley.'
'Wha-? Now?'
Narcissa nodded, 'Though I doubt he would be impressed by your somewhat damp attire. I shall tell him you need to get dressed first.'
Ridley nodded slightly, 'Sorry, Draco,' she said, standing up and walking towards her own room.
When she stepped into her room again, she almst cried. The last time she had been in here, everything had seemed so simple. So carefree. Ridley sighed and walked over to her wardrobe where she picked out some ripped black skinny jeans and another black tank top. She quickly got changed and walked over to her dresser. She looked at herself in the mirror. She looked a mess. Ridley tried teasing her hair into a ponytail but it woudn't stay in place, so instead she just brushed it out and let it hang in damp waves at her shoulders. She put on a bit of eyeliner and made her way downstairs quietly.
As she descended the stairs, she heard urgent mutterings coming from the dining room. Ridley stopped in her tracks and pressed her ear to the wall.
'Have you done as I asked, Draco?'
Her dad.
'I.. Yes...'
Draco.
'You're lying.'
'I... Please... I tried but...'
'Why hasn't anyone told her?'
'M- my Lord?'
Narcissa.
'What is it?'
'Please. Draco has had a lot going on. Surely we can tell her later today?'
'No. I will tell her.'
'But-' it was Draco again, 'What if she doesn't want to be a Death Eater?'
Ridley stumbled back slightly in horror. A Death Eater? Ridley put her hand over her mouth and tred to steady her breathing, but worse was to come.
'Then she will have no choice. I am her father and I will decide what she does. If she defies me, I will have no choice but to enforce it upon her anyway. That is why I kidn-'
Silence.
'My Lord?'
'We will speak no further of this, Draco. She will do as I ask. Now tell me, how did you manage to get her away from that Weasley boy?'
'I... I told her I loved her...'
'And she believed you?'
'Yes.'
There was silence. Then...
'You weren't being honest were you?'
'...No, my Lord.'
Ridley looked down at the floor, her hand still covering her mouth. A tear slipped down her cheek. He had lied to her. And now she'd broken up with Fred and was about to become a Death Eater. A shaky sob escaped Ridley's lips and she slowly made her way back upstairs.
She pushed open her door and made her way across the room before collapsing on to her bed. Silent tears streamed down her cheeks as she lay on her side. She was alone.
About half an hour later, Ridley had composed herself enough to stop crying. She now just sat in empty silence, staring out of her window. Wondering...
A knock on her door snapped her out of her stupor and she turned around to see Draco at the door.
'Your dad wants to see you now.'
Ridley shook her head slightly, pure hatred boiling in her heart. She gave him a death-glare, before stalking past him and down the stairs.
She would find a way to undo this.
She had to...

Chapter 5
Ridley walked down the stairs cautiously, followed by Draco. Ridley was still fuming. He had lied to her. But she would get her revenge...
Ridley came to the doorway to the dining room and knocked quietly. It was opened almost immediately by Narcissa.
'Come in, Ridley. Come in...'
Ridley stepped in and looked around the room. It was different. The usually roaring fireplace was now dim with the burning embers of a once glorious fire. The lack of light cast a dim overshadow of the room around her, and most of the furniture was pushed up against the walls. Her eyes roamed over to her father, and she almost recoiled.
Considering this was the first time she had met him, his appearance was a bit of a shock to her. But she shook her head and stepped forwards even so. Voldemort turned round to look at her, his snake-like eyes gleaming.
'Ridley... How wonderful to see you...'
He opened his arms and she stepped into them for a hug. To put it shortly, the hug was rather awkward, and Ridley was extremely relieved when he pulled away. She folded her arms, feeling more out of place every second, as Voldemort began to speak.
'My friends... This, is a glorious day. For I, have finally amassed the greatest army. My daughter, is the last piece of the jigsaw, and I know that now, we can defeat Harry Potter once and for all. But first...' he turned to Ridley, 'There is a matter of... The Dark Mark...'
Ridley swallowed nervously.
'Ah, there is nothing to be nervous about, my dear. It will not hurt.'
Ridley swallowed again and cleared her throat, 'But... Why me-? I mean... I have nothing to do with... Whatever it is you're doing... No-one's told me... I...'
She looked down as nervousness blocked her throat once more.
'Ridley... You have nothing to fear. Once you have the Dark Mark, I will tell you everything.'
Narcissa cleared her throat, 'My Lord... If I may-?'
He nodded once and Narcissa stepped timidly over to Ridley and began to speak in hushed tones.
'Ridley... Come on. There's nothing to be ashamed of. It won't hurt. Please... It's what your Father wants.'
Ridley looked up at her, 'But... I don't understand why I have to have it done. I mean, Draco-'
'Draco already has the Dark Mark, sweetie.'
Ridley looked back down, defeated.
'Thank you, Narcissa.' Voldemort said as Narcissa retreated back to where she was stood.
Voldemort took a step closer to Ridley and held her forearm loosely. He twisted it round slightly so that the base was facing upwards, and he pointed his wand at it, before beginning to mutter an incantation.
There was only one thing left for it.
To run.
Ridley yanked her arm away suddenly and tore away from the dining room at the fastest speed possible. She tore down the hallway and up the stairs. She rounded the corner and fled into her room, locking the door behind her as she heard hurried footsteps coming up the stairs behind her. She grabbed a backpack before flinging some clothes quickly into it. Just then, as though Karma had acted, she heard the revving of a car. At first, she thought Luna and Xenophilius had returned, but then she saw the gleam of headlights through the gap in her curtains. She opened them quickly, beaming.
'Fred! I-'
Her face fell. It wasn't Fred. It was Ron.
He looked at Ridley apologetically before they heard a sudden knocking at her door.
'Get in.' Ron said urgently.
Ridley didn't need telling twice. She climbed through the window and was about to climb into the open door when she heard her bedroom door burst open. She turned around.
'Ridley! Don't go!'
It was Draco.
She sighed, edging closer out of the window, 'What do you want?'
'I want you to stay. Please?'
'And why should I do that?'
He was silent for a moment, but then he stepped forward slowly.
'I'll tell you why...'
He edged even further, until he was inches away. He cupped her chin in his hand and held her hand in the other as he looked her deeply in the eyes.
'...Because I love you.'
'YOU LIAR!'
Ridley tugged her hand away from his grasp and slapped him round the face before turning back round and hopping into the car, her foot only just making it's way out of Draco's clutches. But the chase wasn't up yet. She saw Narcissa and Lucius burst into the room behindDraco. She turned to Ron.
'DRIVE!'
Ron revved up the engines and sped off as fast as he could. Ridley managed to slam the door behind her, despite the hysterical, teary mess she'd got herself into. She was taking loud, shaky, half-formed sobs and had curled her knees up to her chest. Ron just sat in worried slilence.
After a few minutes, Ridley had calmed down enough for Ron to attempt talking to her.
'So... Um... What happened?'
Ridley laughed ever so slightly, 'It's a long story.'
Ron looked at her pleadingly.
'Come on. I was expecting to come round to yours and find you chilling in your room or something. I wasn't expecting to find Malfoy attempting to make out with you while you attacked him and his parents were trying to restrain you.'
This time, Ridley didn't laugh. Ron sighed.
'Please Rid...'
Ridley exhaled and cosed her eyes, 'Ill tell you later...'
Ron groaned, 'Okay, okay...'
They were silent for the rest of the journey and when they pulled up to the Burrow, Ridley felt more alone than she had ever done before. What if Ron was the only one on her side? What if they didn't want her there? Then where would she go?
Ridley found herself begginning to hyperventilate as they made their way to the front door, Ron carrying her backpack. He knocked on the front door and it was opened immediately by Ginny, who was in her pyjamas. Ridley noticed for the first time just how late it was. Ginny pressed a finger to her lips and spoke in a whisper.
'We have to be quiet; everyone else is in bed and if either Fred or mum see you, they're going to throw a fit.'
Ridley looked down at the floor, 'They hate me don't they?'
Ginny sighed, 'Is that a trick question?'
Ridley said nothing, but instead stood in numb silence. Ron cleared his throat.
'So... What are we gonna do? Mum's gonna find out eventually, and then what?'
Ginny put on a face just like her mother would when mad. It was actually quite scary.
'If she wants Ridley out, the she's gonna have me out too. She may have broken up with Fred but that doesn't mean she isn't my friend. And I'm gonna put most of my blame on Malfoy for tricking her into loving him, which-' she turned to Ridley '-I'm guessing he did otherwise you wouldn't be here.'
Ridley nodded once and Ginny sighed.
'Ooookay then... Well, me and Ridley are going up to my room. I guess we'll have to deal with whatever trouble's tomorrow holds in the morning.' She grabbed Ridley's bag from Ron, 'Come on, Rid.'
Ridley followed Ginny silently as they made their way up the stairs. Her heart seemed to get faster and faster for reasons she couldn't fathom, until she found herself walking past Fred's room.
She couldn't help herself. She stopped walking and pressed her ear to his door. Ginny realised Ridley had stopped walking and she turned round. When she saw where Ridley had stopped, her face was filled with empathy.
Ridley was listening for sounds that would signal Fred was still awake. When she heard nothing, she eased the door open slowly. She stepped in slightly to see Fred's sleeping silhouette in the darkness. He was facing away from her, breathing steadlily. Ridley blinked a few times, before the tears streamed down her cheeks. She laughed slightly in spite of herself.
So this is what heartbreak feels like.
Ginny stepped up behind her and tugged at her arm gently.
'Come on... You can cry in my room.'
Ridley gave in to Ginny's tug and followed her up the rest of the stairs. As theymade their way up the final flight, Ridley exhaled.
This was all her fault.

Chapter 6:
The following morning, Ridley woke up with a jolt. Something, or someone, had woken her suddenly. She looked around her surroundings, confused for a moment, before remembering last-night's occurences. Ridley sighed and face-planted the pillow in annoyance. Why did it always have to be her? Just then, she noticed the tapping noise and realised, with even greater annoyance, that it was that noise that had woken her up. Ridley climbed out of bed groggily and walked towards the window where the noise seemed to be coming from. She opened the curtains and a look of pure loathing overtook her.
It was Draco's owl.
Ridley sighed and opened the latch on the window, allowing the owl to flutter in and land on Ginny's bed. Ginny had offered to sleep on the floor that night, and Ridley's thoughts were distracted for a moment as she realised Ginny was nowhere to be seen. The owl hooted slightly, diverting her attention once more.
She turned to the owl and untied the roll of parchment from it's leg. It hooted once more before flying back out of the open window.
Back to Draco.
Ridley shook her head and unrolled the parchment, revealing a very long letter. Well, it was a long letter for Draco's standards, anyway. She began to read.

Ridley,

I know it sounds hard to believe, considering all the bad things you've known me to do. But I swear, I was telling the truth when I told you I loved you. I know you were listening in when I told the Dark Lord I didn't love you, but it was him I was lying to, Ridley, not you. I would never, ever lie to you. Now I know the only way we can be together is if you get the Dark Mark, so I'm asking you, please, for me, if you will come back home. I promise when you come back, you won't regret a thing.

I meant what I said before: Fred doesn't love you, and after yesterday, he probably never will. I'm not blaming you. I'm just saying he can't see a good thing when it's in front of him, and he blew it. Ridley, I will never do to you what he did and I promise you that.

Now, if I still haven't managed to convince you I'm telling the truth, then please believe me now. The Dark Lord has given us 24 hours to return you home. If you're not back by then, he's going to come and find you. Ridley, he will find you, and he will kill anyone who stands in his way.

Now I don't care what happens to the Weasley's. I don't care at all. But I know you do. If you don't come home, he will kill every single one of the Weasley's, and I know you don't want that. I'm not lying, Ridley, I swear. If you don't believe me, you'll regret it when all of your friends are lying dead at your feet.

Please, for me, my parents, your dad, and for the Weasleys: Come home.

All my love,

Draco.

Ridley stood in shock. Her eyes had widened significantly at each sentence, and now, they were almost popping out of their sockets. What if he actually wasn't lying? What if the Weasley's died because she didn't come home?
Ridley's hands seemed to go limp in horror, and she dropped the letter on the floor, and stood there numbly.
Just then, there was a gentle knock at the door. Without waiting for an answer, Ginny came in with a grave expression on her face. But her expression was replced by confusion when she saw Ridley stood in the center of the room, looking shocked.
'Rid... Wha-?'
Just then, she caught sight of the letter on the floor. She picked it up cautiously and began to read it, her eyes scanning the parchment furiously. Just like Ridley, when she'd finished reading, she dropped the letter in horror. She looked up at Ridley, tears in her eyes.
'Oh, Ridley!'
She flung her arms around Ridley and began to sob gently. Ridley could understand where she was coming from. One of her best friends, being forced into the Dark Lord's service, and the punishment for her friend not complying would be her own death. Ridley hugged her back gratefully. She was so lucky to have had a friend like Ginny for so long.
Eventually, Ginny pulled away, the tears streaming down her cheeks. She sniffled.
'What are you gonna do?'
Ridley laughed slightly, 'Well... Looks like I have to go back, doesn't it?'
Ginny looked at her apprehensively, 'Y- You don't have to... We... We could put an enchantment round the house... Or...'
Ridley shook her head, 'Ginny, please. I can't let you die.'
Ginny sniffled again, 'It doesn't matter. You're my friend. I can't let you become a Death Eater.'
Ridley placed a hand on Ginny's shoulder, 'Hey...' she smiled warmly, 'It's okay. I'll be alright. Ginny, in all honesty. I'd rather become a Death Eater than see my best friend and her family die. Imagine you were me, what would you do?'
Ginny looked at the floor sadly in defeat and nodded slowly.
Ridley sighed, 'So, what now? I still have a few hours and I would prefer to spend them with my best friend than anywhere else.'
Ginny smiled slightly, 'Thanks. I think my parents need to see this first, though.'
'But, I thought your mum-'
'Oh, she's fine with it now. That's what I was coming to tell you. The only problem is that there's still one person who refuses to forgive you...'
'Fred,' they said in unison.
Ginny nodded slightly, 'Uh-huh...'
Ridley ran her hands through her hair and sighed, 'Well, I guess we're not gonna get anywhere stood up here. We need to try and sort things out. For everyone,' she added.
Ginny nodded again and turned to the door. She opened it slowly and began to trude down the stairs, followed by Ridley, who shared the same lack of enthusiasm.
As they walked past Fred's door, Ridley heard some heavy metal music coming from inside. With a jolt, she recognised it as the song she had got him to listen to last summer. It was by a muggle band Ridley liked and the song was called Rebel Love Song.
That was their song.
Consumed by annoyance, Ridley pushed open Fred's door. Ginny noticed seconds later, and went to stop her, but it was too late. She had already ventured into his room.
Fred was laying on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. He was mouthing the words to the song, oblivious to the fact Ridley and Ginny were in his room.
'Never gonna change my mind. We can leave it all behind. Nothing's gonna stop us. No not this time. So take your hand in mine, it's ours tonight. Thsi is a Rebel Love Song. Hearts will sacrifice, it's do or die. This is a Rebel Love Song.'
Suddenly, he realised he had company and sat up. But he laid back down in indifference when he saw Ridley.
'What's she doing in here?' he said to Ginny, not looking at her.
Ridley stepped forward, 'Fred, please...'
He shook his head, 'I don't wanna hear it.'
Ginny sighed and walked to the other side of the room to turn the radio off. Fred yelled in frustration when she did, but she just put her hands on her hips with a stern expression on her face.
'Fred Weasley! Ridley has come in here to apologise, despite your pig-headedness! It might interest you to know that she has to go back to the Malfoy's to be subjected to getting the Dark Mark and becoming a Death Eater, just so she can save our family from being killed! But noooooo! You're more bothered about her refusing your stupid little proposal, because it's that much more important! Ugh! You have no idea of the sacrifices she is giving up for our family, and you're just being a dick about it!'
She breathed heavily, fury in her eyes. Fred shrugged and turned to Ridley.
'Have fun being Draco's play-thing. I don't care any more.'
Ridley felt as though she'd been slapped in the face. Tears stung her eyes, and Ginny walked up to Fred.
'You complete and utter twat! I can't believe you're part of my family!'
And with that, she turned back to Ridley and grabbed her arm, 'Come on Rid, he's not even worth it.'
Ridley took one last look at Fred before giving in to Ginny's tug and following her down the stairs, blinded by tears. As they made their way into the kitchen, Molly walked over to them and hugged Ridley.
'It's okay, dearie. We don't blame you. I- Oh, what is it Ginny?'
Ginny was tapping her mother's arm, shaking her head furiously. Ridley swallowed and began to speak.
'I have to say something... I think it's best if everyone hears this...'
Molly nodded, 'Okay then. Well, why don't you sit at the table and I'll go get Ron, Percy, George and... Out of bed.'
Ridley noticed she'd avoided saying Fred's name. Just then, Ridley wondered the conversation that could have gone on after she'd left Fred yesterday. Imagine the bitching they would have done.
Ridley sighed and shook her head as Molly began to walk up the stairs. A few seconds later Ridley heard her yell.
'Percy! Ron! George! Get up!'
Ridley laughed in spite of herself. Molly was such a character. A few moments later, Molly appeared back at the doorway with a slightly triumphant grin.
Percy was the first one to come downstairs, 'What is the matter mother? Did something happen?'
'Sit down Percy and you'll find out.'
Percy sat down at the table immediately and adjusted his horn-rimmed glasses before clasping his hands together and placing them on the table.
Ron came downstairs next. He was about to speak, but then he saw Ridley and noticed the expression on her face, so instead he just walked over to the table and sat down, making sure to be as far away from Percy as possible.
Finally, George came downstairs. He rubbed his eyes sleepily and opened them again. He blinked a few times when he saw Ridley and looked around the room, bewildered. Of course, he hadn't known she was here. He nodded at her in aknowledgement and walked over to the table to sit next to Ron. Arthur was already sat in an armchair between the kitchen and the living room, so Ridley began, aided by Ginny.
'Well...' Ridley began, 'I, uh... I got a letter this morning...'
Ginny put her hand out to stop her, 'Do you want me to tell them?'
Ridley cleared her throat and shook her head, 'No... It's best if it comes from me...'
Ginny nodded and stepped back slightly. Ridley cleared her throat again and continued, with more strength this time.
'I got a letter from Draco this morning, and it said that I had to become a Death Eater and get the Dark Mark... If I don't, my father is going to hunt me down, and...' her throat closed up suddenly.
Ginny exhaled, '...and he'll kill us... If she doesn't go back...'
veryone inhaled sharply. Molly clasped her hands together, a look of shock on her face. Ron muttered 'No way', Percy stared at her, a grave expression on her face, and George was looking past her left shoulder...
Ridley turned round to see Fred leaned against the doorway. He caught her looking and he looked at the floor shyly. Ridley's breath caught in her throat. He was so... hot.
No, Ridley. Stop. She thought to herself.
Arthur spoke up to her right, 'Well... I guess that's that then...'
Ridley nodded slightly, 'Yeah... I guess...'
Ron cleared his throat, 'So... Who's taking her home? I mean... You-Know-Who isn't gonna be too happy with one of us turning up with her, is he?'
She turned back to everyone at the table, but then heard Fred's footsteps drawing closer. She felt his hand on her shoulder.
'I'll take her home.'

*

The entire journey home was in complete silence, and Ridley's earlier euphoria had worn off a a fair bit by the end. Fred landed the car and pulled up about 100 meters away from the gates. Ridley turned to him.
'Fred, please listen to me... I never wanted it to be like this... If I could have changed things, I would have told you sooner... I didn't mean to make such a mess of things... Please Fred... It's too late to make things the way they were but it's not too late to save our friendship. I'm begging you, please...'
He had been staring at her deeply through all of this, taking everything in. He looked down slightly before looking back up.
'Goodbye, Ridley.'
Ridley looked down at the floor. Well, at least she had tried. She pushed open the car door and got out. She took one last, hurtful look at Fred before slamming the door behind her and stalking up to the gates. She heard the engine of the car start and Fred drove off, leaving Ridley alone once more.
Ridley saw some movement behind one of the dining room curtains, and a few minutes later, she saw Draco walking down the driveway. He walked up to her with a smile on his face. He lifted up his left sleeve to reveal the recently imprinted Dark Mark. It slithered a few times before the gates opened with a clang.
Without hesitation, Ridley ran up and into Draco's arms. He wrapped his arms round her tightly and rested his chin on the top of her head. Ridley sniffled slightly and he shushed her gently.
'It's okay... Not long now and it will all be over...'
Ridley sighed, 'I guess... What's he gonna do to me Draco?'
Draco shrugged, 'Hopefully, nothing.'
He sighed, 'I thought I'd lost you, Rid.'
He lifted his hand to her chin and raised it slightly. Ridley's heart was pounding. She shouldn't let him do this. But she was too tired to fight his touch. He raised her chin further, bringing her face closer to his. He whispered gently.
'I thought I'd lost you...'
And with that, he pressed his lips to hers gently. Ridley closed her eyes and gave in to him. Draco put his other hand around her waist and brought her body closer to his. He began to bite her bottom lip gently when they were interrupted suddenly.
'Draco? Is Ridley back?'
Bellatrix.
'Bella!' Ridley tugged away from Draco and ran up to Bellatrix, hugging her tightly. Bellatrix hugged back and shushed her. She pulled away to get a clear view of Ridley.
'Aw, poor dear. What have those Weasley's done to you?' she tutted, 'Oh well, I guess you can sort yourself out once we get inside. Come on, sweetheart.'
She put her arm around Ridley's shoulders and led her inside, and into the dining room. Suddenly, Bellatrix let go of Ridley and shut the door behind them, locking it as she did.
'I have her, My Lord.'
She grabbed a hold of Ridley again, tighter than before. Ridley's eyes darted around the room. This was not good.
She heard the hissing sound of Nagini from the shadows, and she knew that wherever Nagini was, there was also...
'Well done, Bellatrix... Well done...'
Voldemort stepped out from the shadows slowly, twirling his wand in his hand. Without warning, he aimed the wand at Ridley, and black cords shot out of the end, wrapping themselves tightly around her. Bellatrix managed to let go of her only just in time. Ridley lost her balance and tumbled to the floor, struggling desperately against her bonds as Voldemort stepped over her.
'Please, father... I didn't mean to... I-'
'Crucio!'
Agonising pain ripped through Ridley. It seemed to tear straight through her and it seemed as though she was being knifed repeatedly everywhere. The pain seemed to last for hours, and when it began to die down, Voldemort continued his assault.
'Crucio!'
Ridley writher on the floor in agony. It was like all of the injuries she could ever possibly get, all combined into one. She yelled out in pain, and the tears streamed down her face.
'Crucio!'
Eventually, the pain died down for the last time. Ridley lay on the floor, dazed. The pain was almost too much to handle, and she found herself struggling to stay conscious. Voldemort swiped his wand through the air, and Ridley found her bonds being cut loose. She didn't have the strength to tug away, as Voldemort leant down and grabbed her left forearm in his hand. He muttered a long and complicated incantation, and the pain searing down her arm was the last thing she felt, before she slipped deep into darkness...

Chapter 7:
A few hours later, Ridley awoke in her room. She was aching all over, and as she pressed a hand to her tender head, she felt a series of bumps. She opened her eyes slowly and saw Draco sat on the edge of her bed, looking paler than ever. Ridley cleared her throat and tried to speak.
'How long have I been here?'
He sighed slightly, 'A long time.'
Ridley groaned and tried to sit up. Draco shuffled closer to her and supported her back as she sat up. He was looking at her worriedly.
'Are you okay? I- I tried to get in after Aunt Bella locked the door, but... I'm sorry, Rid...'
She looked down at her left arm suddenly, remembering why she was in this predicament in the first place. There it was: The Dark Mark. Ridley sighed and looked up at Draco again before smiling slightly, 'It's okay... It wasn't your fault.'
Draco closed his eyes slowly, 'It was... If I hadn't lied in the first place, you wouldn't have left... It's my fault...'
'Come here,' Ridley said, opening her arms out to him.
He hugged her gratefully, and they spent a few minutes embracing each-other, thinking of everything that had occured this past week. Ridley laughed slightly.
'What is it?' Draco asked, looking down at her.
Ridley laughed a bit more, 'It's just, well, what now? I mean, after everything that hapened, I'm just... stuck here for he rest of the holidays, and then what? Do I become a full Death Eater? Or, do I go back to Hogwarts? Or... I just...' she faded off, lost for words.
Draco shrugged, 'I dunno. But hey, no matter what we do, I'll be right here with you. I promise.'
Ridley smiled at him sadly, 'So... What is everyone thinking of me right now?'
Draco smiled, 'Uh... The Dark Lord is... Content for now. He seems to think he gave you punishment enough. Mum and dad... Well... If I'm honest I think they think you did the right thing by running off. They seem terrifiied. No idea why. Aunt Bella is crawling over the Dark Lord like they're attatched at the hip, and he's looking her like something nasty on his shoe. So I don't really think she cares much about what happened...'
Ridley sighed, 'Well... I guess it's better than nothing.'
Draco shrugged, 'I guess. Do you want a drink. You've been out cold for ages. You must be thirsty. And hungry.'
Ridley nodded, 'A little.'
Draco gave her a drink almost immediately. Ridley found this slightly odd, but then she remembered Draco had been by her bedside for God only knows how long and he must be worried sick for her. Ridley took a sip of the drink before looking back up at Draco.
'So, what do I do now?'
Draco shrugged, 'I guess if you're feeling up to it, you could get dressed and go downstairs to see what The Dark- Sorry, your dad wants you to do.'
Ridley sighed and took another sip of her drink, 'Yeah... Whatever... I... Draco?'
'Mhmm?'
'Did you mean what you said?'
'About what?'
'About being my my side, no matter what?'
He paused, 'Yeah...'
Ridley frowned, 'I don't believe you.'
Draco sighed, 'What? Oh come on. Why?'
Ridley narrowed her eyes, 'Because... I still don't know whether you were lying about loving me, and if I don't know whetherr you were lying about something as serious as that, then how do I know you're not lying now, hmm?'
Draco groaned, 'Oh for Christ's sake, then how on Earth am I supposed to prove it to you?'
Ridley looked down for a moment, thinking. And then.
'The Unbreakable Vow.'
'...What?!'
'You heard me. The Unbreakable Vow. You can do it can't you... Unless you're lying...'
'I...' Draco groaned. He was evidently trying to battle it out with himself. On one hand, The Unbreakable Vow was the only way he could prove himself to Ridley, but on the other hand, it would mean potentially getting himself into some very bad spots. He sighed.
'I... Fine.' He held out his hand.
Ridley held his hand in her own and pulled out her wand. Thin, glowing cord-like things began to form around their hands, and Ridley began to speak directly to Draco.
'Will you, Draco Malfoy, stay by my side if we are in fatal danger, without abandoning me in any way?'
'I will.'
'And will you share any of the punishment I will recieve should we get caught doing something either by the Dark Lord's wishes or against?'
'I will.'
'And will you refrain from ever ever lying to me again?'
'I will.'
The cords disappeared slowly and Ridley looked at Draco in contempt.
'Do you love me Draco.'
'...Yes.'
Nothing happened.
This seemed to satisfy Ridley who got out of bed entirely and walked over to her dresser.
'Okay, get out now. I'm not getting dressed in front of you.'
Draco sighed and walked slowly out of the room.
'And fetch Dobby while you're at it!' she yelled after him.
'Okay!' he shouted back.
Ridley walked over to her warrdrobe and pulled out some black leather skinny-fit pants and a black t-shirt, as well as her leather jacket. She pulled them on hurriedly and was beginning to tease her haair in place when there was a knock at the door.
'Come in.'
Dobby opened the door and walked in.
'May I aid you Miss Ridley?'
'Yes... How do I look?'
Dobby seemed a little taken aback by this question, 'Very nice Miss Ridley.'
'Good. Thanks.'
She halted, 'Is something wrong?'
Dobby trembled, saying nothing.
'Dobby?'
'I mustn't tell. Master Lucius told me not to.'
Ridley kneeeled down in front of Dobby, 'Dobby, I am as much your master as Lucius is, now tell me, what's wrong?'
Dobby trembled a little bit more before speaking in barely more than a whisper, 'Master Draco spiked your drink...'
Ridley stumbled back, 'What? Master Draco spiked your drink. It's a potion. Now the... Dark... L-... He... Has control over you...'
He suddenly ran over to Ridley's wardrobe and began bashing his head on it, 'Bad Dobby! Bad Dobby!'
Ridley looked at him in disgust, 'You little liar.'
And witht hat, she stalked out of her room and down the stairs. As she was halfway down, she began to slow down. What is Dobby wasn't lying? Sure, it sounded stupid but he wouldn't lie about something like that. And theree was this niggling feeling at the back of Ridley's mind that something was up, whether it was that or not.
Ridley sped up again slightly as a thought occured to her: There was only one way she would find out. And this time, lying wouldn't be a problem for her.

Chapter 8:
Ridley knocked gently on the door to the dining room. She heard hurried footsteps before the door was opened by Draco. He smiled when he saw her.
'You look better.'
'I feel better,' she replied with a smile.
As Draco began to shut the door behind her, she whispred in his ear.
'I have things to discuss with you.'
He froze for a second before nodding slightly.
'Okay.'
Ridley nodded once and began to walk across the room to the table where everyone was sat. She looked around the room curiously, noticing everyone for the first time. Snape was sat on her dad's right, his hands clasped in front of him on the table. Next to him was Bellatrix, looking at Snape loathingly. Ridley presumed this was because of Snape being sat next to her dad. Further down the table were the Carrows, as well as some other Death Eaters Ridley had forgotten the name of. She walked over to her dad who had an expectant look on his face. He gestured for her to sit on his left, and she did so. Draco sat on the opposite side of the table between his parents.
'Now...' Voldemort began, looking around the table, ' Now that we have... everyone... I will tell you the plans I have in store for this year...'
Nagini slithered from under the table and on to his lap, hissing slightly at Ridley. Ridley narrowed her eyes and Nagini recoiled back slightly. Volemort continued as though nothing had happened.
'This year will be the year we strike on Hogwarts... We have two very reliable people here, who can guarantee our success. Ridley, Draco... It's up to you...'
'But, I-' Ridley was going top ask what it was they had to do, but Bellatrix held up a hand.
'Draco will explain to you later.'
Ridley nodded and Voldemort continued.
'When their plan is executed, we shall have full control of Hogwarts... and it's students...'
He looked around the room, his snake-like eyes gleaming red. Ridley leaned back in her chair, thorougly bored. This was no help whatsoever.
Voldemort continued to talk about his plan, before briefing some of the Death Eaters about a different plan involving Hogsmeade, and praising some Death Eaters, before using the Cruciuatus Curse on others for not doing certain tasks properly. Finally, he ended with reminding Draco and Ridley once more the importance of this task, and dismissing them. Ridley looked at the clock. It was 11:36 PM.
Draco stood up first, followed immediately by Ridley. Once they'd walked out of the room, Draco closed the door behind them and Ridley looked at him.
'Well, that just about drained the life out of me,' she said.
He smiled slightly, 'So, you wanted to talk to me?'
She nodded, 'Come on, let's go outside. I can't stand being stuck in here.'
Draco sighed slightly and took her hand in his own. They walked through the front doors before heading towards the Orchard. Ridley smirked slightly as she realised where they were going.
'Draco, if you're looking for a repeat of last year...'
He laughed, 'No, I'm not. Don't worry about that. I just wanna talk to you.'
Ridley seemed satisfied with that answer and they continued to walk in silence. She looked at the ground as she walked, slightly excited at the fact she was finally going to find out what everyone had been planning. She felt like a small child again.
They finally made their way to the edge of the Orchard and Draco sat at the base of a tree. Ridley sat next to him and they looked at the distance in silence for a few moments. Eventually, Draco spoke up.
'I guess we both have a lot we need to say... I know I haven't been very clear with you recently, and a lot has happened, but you need to know that you can trust me. You do trust me, don't you?'
Ridley nodded without looking at him. She opened her mouth slightly, trying to think of how to say what she was going to say.
'...Dobby said that you spiked my drink...'
'What?'
She looked at him, 'You heard me... Is it true?'
He looked down for a moment, and Ridley's heart began to race as she feared the worst. But then...
'No.'
Ridley nodded, 'Then I'll let you speak.'
Draco sighed, 'This is gonna be quite hard to explain...'
Ridley put her hand on his, 'Take as long as you need.'
He sighed again, 'The Dark Lord wants me... us... to do something for him. You know about the Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin & Burkes, right?'
She nodded.
'Well... It's "partner", if you will, still exists... In the Room Of Requirement.'
Ridley frowned, 'So... What's the problem?'
'It's broken.'
'Oh...'
'Yeah...' Draco laughed slightly, 'And I have to fix it... Basically, the plan is... I have to fix the cabinet, so that everyone can get into Hogwarts undetected; it's the only entrance to Hogwarts that isn't guarded and that Potter can't see on that stupid map of his. Everyone will get in... And then...' he swallowed, unable to say the rest.
'Draco?' Ridley frowned.
He sighed and looked at the floor, 'And then... I need to kill Dumbledore... If I don't...' he made the action of someone slicing his neck.
'...Then the Dark Lord kills me...'
Ridley's eyes widened and she put her hand over her mouth, lost for words.
'...Draco...'
He laughed slightly, 'It's nothing... I know I can do it.'
Ridley frowned slightly, 'So... How am I a part of this?'
He sighed, 'I need you to help me... I'm gonna be in there most of the time, so I need you to make sure no-one get's on my case, especially the Wonder Twins and that Mudblood. I also need another favour of you...'
Ridley leant in closer, listening to every word.
'I know that you are the only friend of mine who is more or less friends with the Gryffindors. I need you to become closer this year to those three, and any other Gryffindors if you can.'
'But what about Fre-'
'I know... That's how I know it will be hard for you, but I need you to try... Please?'
Ridley sighed before nodding, 'I'll try, but I can't promise it will work.'
'...I know.'
Ridley leaned back into the tree, 'So, is that it?'
'No... One more thing: I need you to help me with fixing the Cabinet. I know you won't want to do this but I need you to get the help of Granger without letting on what we're doing.'
Ridley blinked, 'How the Hell am I supposed to do that?'
He sighed and started running his hand through his hair, 'Look, I don't know, okay? Just, please try for me. I can't afford to screw this up.'
'I know. I know. God...'
Draco groaned and leaned forward, putting his head in his hands, 'Look, I know you feel you don't owe it to me, and you probably don't. And I know you don't want to do it either, but I need you to do this for me, Rid. We need to work together. I can't stress how important it is that we get this right, and I sure as heck can't do it alone. I need you and you need me.'
Ridley flinched at the word "Rid"; that was what Fred had called her.
She shook her head, trying to clear the thoughts from her mind. She needed to stop living in the past. Draco was right: they needed to work together. She sighed and nodded.
'Okay. I'll try. I'm sorry. I just... Can't understand how we got so wrapped up in this. Why can't I just be a normal teenager with normal problems?'
Draco chuckled, 'I've had that same thought several times.'
Ridley sighed and rested her head on Draco's shoulder, 'So... You and me, huh?'
He looked down and smiled, 'You and me.'
