Above life they go
Way beyond the grade
Far past their shame
They are free of all
That it means to be alive
Death is the price
Faith is the cost
And they have dearly paid
Their souls have escaped
At the gates of heaven they stand
The master and his court jester
Easily accept them into the flock
As soon as the predictable nature
Of all that they have ever hoped
Settles down and conformity takes shape
They are given a choice
Be bound by the eternity of heaven
Or receive your wings and soar
Far beyond all that heaven is
And certainly is not
Easily they decide to escape
That which they have spent
All of their livable life
Trying to embrace
They are given their wings
Absolution through flight
They are told they must soar
They are told they must go
Back down to the heights of humankind
Their they must circle
Waiting to do deeds that will further
The causality of heaven
And those collecting the dead
They must perform miracles
That cannot be confirmed
Nor denied
Legions of lemmings must see
It is what it will take for them to believe
Their faith is weak, their souls in peril
Something must make them strong
The perfect ploy, God's undeniable toy
Sent from the heights of heaven
Back down to the reality of existence
To get people to see that such things
As heaven, and angels are as real
As he alone makes them out to be
How do angels fly
Such a question not even I
Would consider answering
But why, there is something I am
Quite certain of…
