Betrayed
by Lisa McCourt Hollar

Fingers shaking, Stella lit a cigarette, pulling the smoke into her lungs. Coughing, she cleared her throat and took another drag. She wasn't a smoker. She'd bought the pack for Harold. His constant bitching since he'd decided to quit was driven her insane. She never gave him the pack. Coming home early, she had caught him with his new habit...her best friend.

Lighting another cigarette, she looked at the two, still in the bed. The gun she had taken from the bedside drawer lay next to them.  In the distance, sirens could be heard, but Stella didn't notice. Her only concern was, how do you get blood out of silk sheets?
