I watched you grow much older, Leaving your youth behind, I never thought I'd see the day, When I wouldn't call you mine You were always my sweet angel, Flying in your skies above, But always when you came back down, I would still have your love Now I sit in this piano bar, Still playing you a song or two, Even though I still don't really know, Whatever became of you The ladies of the night sashay, Always loving what I play, Because I'm still playing for you sweet angel, Till the dawning of every day They tell me that I play so sad, That someone must have hurt me bad, And as the notes I play linger into the night I wonder if they may be right They say that love should last forever, And it never should fall apart, But all one must do to discover the truth, Is look deep into my heart
