-Doing Whatever It Takes- by Keaton Foster This is such an instant Crushing expression Of the human condition Spelled out for you to read. Written by me because of a need Desperately wanting to be heard To count for something beyond All that has been deemed absurd. A desire to count for something greater Than myself or all that I could ever hope These words are my weapons Dangerous afflictions of potential understanding That will slam around inside your head. They will change your perfect little dream Into a reality based construct That no matter what You will never be able to escape. Understand these words if you wish Turn from them if you must You are always doing whatever it takes To such a concept I can easily relate I myself have always done the same. I have no regrets How could I ever dare I am a man, a beast, all creature Playing a dangerous game Survival at any price. I will feel no sorrow for you I would never cry a tear If anything that I have penned Cracks the conformity of your ways. I will lend you no sympathy Because you and I are absolute strangers I simply cannot be concerned with you Because I am far too consumed with myself. Your ideologies are certainly unlike mine The clever ways in which you pretend To understand in order to fit in Concerns a man like me most of all. I worry that you don't know And if you had the chance to You would refuse because you Are afraid of what it might all mean. I would blast the trumpets in excess If I was not so inclined to be silent If I was not so determined to remain As an unspoken advocate for our kind. I let my silent words speak to the level That is required for all to hear With any level of clarity What it is I am trying to say. Continue doing whatever it takes Because I know that you will So will I, so will our entire species Survival of the fittest or in our case Continuation of the sickest. I am well aware that you are A blatant representation of all that I am not And all that I could never be. I know that I should individually identify You long before I make such a Blanket statement of indictment But I certainly have not even tried. However be assured of this I know more than most Way down in the deepest depths of my soul That we, you and I, are most human of beings Suffering from a very similar set of afflictions And a cavalcade of equally frightening contradictions… Doing Whatever It Takes Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012 Biography
