Seasons in Fairyland

The spring sun rises in the east,
Shining bright rays of light to the land below.
Creatures of spirit and magic stir from their sleep,
Stretching and waking up in wildflowers, reeds and willows.

Fairies of life and light are they,
Gleaming green and gold with gossamer wings.
Every plant and animal has a spirit,
Radiant with energy and yearning for what the year brings.

The sun grows hotter, for now it is summer,
Everything is in full bloom, even the evening sky.
The fairies glow brighter, so full of life and love
They circle high up into the night sky like ten million fireflies.

Warmth is both pleasant and cumbersome,
The fairies want to dance and laze at the same time.
They content themselves with marveling at their own world around them,
Taking in nature's own great design.

Cool autumn winds blow from the north,
And the warm gentle fairies prepare for sleep.
They tire of their work but are gorgeous as ever,
Burning a brilliant ruby red as the frost begins to creep.

Spring and summer's cold siblings arrive and soon settle.
Their light blue faces are austere and pale,
And as their counterparts fall asleep
Storms rage without fail.

Winter blizzards pound the landscape,
Fairies of ice and snow romp around,
Dancing as layers of snow
Blanket the frost-bitten ground.

Icicles hang from every branch,
And the faraway weak sun barely shines
Coldness reigns until water drips
Giving the blue fairies the 'go home' signs.

Every year the cycle repeats,
Seasons pass and fairies meet.
One must go while the other sleeps,
Waiting for time to leap.
