Is This All There Is?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?  If you have, you are not alone.  In today's world, life moves fast...too fast and we find ourselves spinning along with no thought of time.  One day we wake up or slow down, whichever way you prefer to look at it, and we wonder where the time has gone.  We were so focused on our work, on raising our families and building our futures that we failed to see and treasure the very moment in front of us.

Soon our children are grown and time, that elusive creature, has slipped away from us. We suddenly find an unprepared for emptyness. Now time is our enemy...there’s too much of it on our hands.  These same hands that once were used for multi-tasking are now hands that sooth broken hearts and the occasional boo-boo.  Now these things no longer need our handy help and we find ourselves at a loss.  We don’t know how to focus on self...how to use these hands for what we want and need...it is not in our nature to put ourselves first.

Soon though, like a cool soft breeze, we find ourselves slowly learning anew.  We no longer wonder if this is all there is....because we know better.  We find that there are so many dreams to renew and explore, so many journeys to take, so much to learn, those things that we had forgotten in our busyness.  Yes, all there is-is just what we make it to be.  We can face our futures with excitement...or with sorrow, with hope or with despair. Either way, face it we must...time would allow nothing less than our ability to change with our circumstances.  It is up to us as to how we do it.
