Snow Flowers
Rated: E | Short Story | Other | #1845066
Little puffs of snow came flowing down. It made me think of the summer flowers

Today was a wee bit milder then most of the recent days, thus giving me and my gal-pups a
chance to have a peek around the property. Well at least the couple of acres that are cleared enough
to have a stroll on. My gals enjoyed it immensely, running after the snow balls that are thrown for their
play and catching abilities to be challenged. While watching them run through the open field, sniffing
out the other animal tracks, both them and myself had noticed that the branches were full of a thick
layer of snow. And when their tails hit them, little puffs of snow came flowing down. It made me think
of the summer pollen on the flowers, that gets brushed off when bees and others knock against them.

         Ah ha! (idea)

Back to the house we all trailed, the gal-pups wondering what is going on,now that their
prance about had been shortened. It was meant to be a short pit stop of sorts. A thought came
to mind while out there, to make it seem much more festive for them and my self. While in the
house, my search for the items that would facilitate this plan became more intent then first
expected.

The reason for taken quite a while was it had been some time since my last run of doing any
baked items, and it seems that they were packed away very well. Ah, found them right at the back
of the pantry. Filled about six spray bottles with water, small amount of vegetable glycerin, and a
blend of food colouring to make six different colours. Then out to the pups who were all waiting at
the door for my return. Three tails a wagging in anticipation of our new start to their adventure. They
had no idea that it would become totally my pleasure after this treck. We all went to the end of the
field to start again, only this time, it was me following the pups.

Every bush or dried out stem that had snow balls on them, were sprayed with the different
colours that were prepared. We returned to the house before dusk, in enough time to have a nice
view of the snow flowers that were now on display in our field today. Turned to pulled the lawn chair
from leaning against the deck rail, and positioned it for the best view. We all sat there till we
couldn't view the snow flowers any more, then entered our home and each of them went to their
cots, to dream about another day of playing in the fields. Their day must have been full from the
sounds of the pups little yips and barks, as they slept dreaming of the great time they had. This
day gave me the opportunity to write about a wonderful break in the middle of winter, where we got
to see flowers of brilliant colours out in our fields. While having a coffee, it felt to be a nice close to
the day.

As a species, we should consider ourselves to be quite fortunate, to be able to record it all for
the future.
