Love

Love
is a commitment
to feel, speak and act
from the heart.
A daily emptying
of the self
to be available to others.

This commitment
is to be reaffirmed each day;
a pledge of humility,
selflessness and compassion.

I aspire to be
the ear that listens,
the heart that accepts,
the arms that embrace,
the peace that envelopes.

I am not perfect.
I will not always achieve my goals,
but, by following the path of love
I will reap the benefits.
