The Day We Met
A day at the rodeo and how I became the cowboy's wife

The First Day We Met

On the first day of September,
At the rodeo with my friends,
Is a day I shall forever remember,
A lifetime of love my soul portends.

You were standing near the fences,
Tall and ever so strong,
My heart lost all it’s senses,
I stood just staring ever so long.

Instead of my friends you chose me,
That was something entirely new,
I checked twice to see,
Thrilled it was true.

I love your jokes so funny,
The time worn cowboy hat,
The way you turn cloudy days sunny,
For the whole day next to you I sat.

Spending time and dating came next,
With engagement in the wings;
You know I love your blue eyes with little flecks,
Your laughter is the reason my soul sings.

Now every first day of September,
On the internet with my friends,
I talk of a day I shall forever remember,
A lifetime of love my soul portends.
