Our Last Goodbye
Six years have passed since last we spoke. I remember it, like it was only a day. We shared our news and laughed at life. We said so long early, so you could watch the game. By dawn you left me, and went to your place in the sun. Without any warning my life came crashing down around me. I was not prepared for the gap that your absence brought. We had no way of knowing that so long was good-bye. If I had a clue, I would have reminded you that I love you. I just wish I could have said it one more time. With all our years together, somehow we just took it for granted. I would have told you that I will honor your loved ones while your gone. On this the anniversary of your departure, I know that you knew. The years have softened the pain but it still brings me to a sigh. Every time I mention your name I remember our last good-bye.
