Walk on Water Pt. 2

“Where is he? Did you guys kiss? Kaige please spill!” My mother said as I walked in the front door.

“We were about to kiss until both of our phones rang. I don’t know who was on his, but you called mine. And he’s coming over for dinner tomorrow. Can you leave me alone now I kinda wanna daydream.” I said took off my coat, shoes, put my goggles down, and handed mom back the keys to my destroyed snowmobile.

“Where’s your snowmobile by the way?” She shouted at me while I walked to my room.

“It’s at the mall remember.” I shouted back and she kept shouting something about fines and what not. I walked into my room and laid on my bed tired and extremely happy about what happened today.

Apparently I passed out and I had the strangest dream about Vlad and me. I was wrapped around in his arms, an acoustic guitar was playing, the next thing I knew a knife flew at me and Vlad was now in front of me protecting me from the knife that was hurdling toward me now in his back.

Did I mention that he was shirtless so in my mind I kinda drooled a little bit?

I looked up at his face and a tear was rolling down his cheek, but it was actually blood.

Then I woke up with a tapping at my window. I got up and opened the window to find Vlad perched on the roof tapping my window.

“Can I help you?” I asked staring at him a little scared of what was happening.

He put a finger on my lips telling me to be quiet. Vlad climbed into my room and closed the window and turned on my mini lamp on my desk. We just stared into each other’s eyes, Vlad’s probably trying to remember what he was gonna say or something.

“So what are you doing at my house at 2 a.m.?” I asked my arms crossed.

“Would you believe I wanted to see you?” He said with a bare with me smile.

“Kinda. So why are you really here?” I asked going to turn on the big overhead light on the ceiling, but he pulled on my arm and said, “No one needs to know that I was here tonight. And I know that we’ve just met and all, but apparently I can’t see you ever again. I’m sorry.” And hugged me trying to make it better or try get on my good side. I punched him in the gut and he backed off.

“Well why the fuck not? Some girlfriend wants you to continue a long distance relationship? A stupid prophecy or ‘forbidden love’? I mean c’mon that is just stupid! I’d actually rather be skinned alive! I mean I’m not implying anything, but still you’re not giving me a very good reason.” I said in defense and looking away after hoping a little bit he didn’t pay much attention to my last sentence.

“Kaige I really do like you and I know this is gonna sound like something from a movie or a book, but it’s my parents. I would love to tell you the real reason, but I can’t. I’m sorry, Kaige.” Vlad said hugged me and the thought that popped into my head, isn’t this a book or some sort of fiction? I hugged him back and felt a tear go down my cheek into his jacket. I was still in his arms when he kissed the top of my head. He walked away from me towards my window when he opened it turned around toward me had the most apologetic look in his eyes, and then jumped out the window going back to his house where ever it was. I walked over and closed the window and sat at my desk. That jerk, but I could tell that he liked me no one gave me an apologetic look that looked like it was killing them.

“Dammit! I could’ve kissed him! I’m so freaking stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid!” I shouted throwing a mini fit around my room and then laid down on my bed my feet touching the floor and I was staring at my ceiling. I started thinking about why the fuck am I around. I mean I have no friends, no father figure to discipline me, and I think the major one is no boyfriend.

I got up went to my desk and grabbed the razor blade I confiscated from Helena when her mother first died, so that Helena wouldn’t try to kill herself. I rolled up my hoodie and cut an ‘X’ on my forearm a couple of inches from my wrist. I just watched the blood trickle down my arm and start to drip down onto my jeans and desk. I felt a tear running down my cheek. I had to quickly clean it up so that no one finds it, and then I went back to sleep and hope for the best tomorrow.

I woke up at 9 am and I quickly rushed to get dressed so I just changed my shirt since I was already wearing jeans and a hoodie, so I changed into a The Used band t-shirt and ran down stairs.

“I have a feeling that there’s still no school.” I asked my mom and she nodded yes and I just grabbed a piece of toast, grabbed the keys for the snowmobiles, and walked outside.

I opened the garage and to my amazement I found my snowmobile in one piece and not on fire. I hopped on it and drove off to find a nice place to be alone and away from everyone. I parked it in the nearby forest and hid it so no one would steal it. I sat down in the snow and took out the razor that I put in my pocket and I just stared at it I was thinking about cutting my forearm again, but then I heard someone playing on an acoustic guitar. I got up to investigate who was playing guitar.

I pushed my way through branches covered in snow where I found someone sitting on a rock playing an acoustic guitar, and humming like they’re about to sing. He started singing, “I know you’re on the brink of despair/you’re about to fall into oblivion/how do you know that I’ll appear/ you are the missing civilian/no one can save you now.” That is exactly how I feel now that I know I can’t see Vlad, Helena, or anyone else besides my mom.

That really doesn’t sound good when you hang out with your boyfriend (in my case the non-existing one) and he asks if you have any friends and you don’t have any that’s kinda sad. I walked closer to him and he didn’t notice me, he just kept playing his guitar. I felt a tear rolling down my cheek as I approached him. He stopped playing and looked up.

It was Vlad.

I’m surprised I didn’t notice his blue hair. He stood up and put his guitar down so it was leaning against the rock in the snow. I hugged him and burst into tears.

“I know I need to stay away, but I really need a hug.” I said crying into his chest. I felt his arms wrap around me in a hug and his head resting on top of mine.

“I missed you as soon as I left last night.” He whispered into my head.

“I’m just so alone. I needed to find a way out or someone who cares and understands.” I tried to say through my tears.

“Here your soaking wet at least take my jacket.” He said backing up from our hug taking off his jacket and then helping me take off my hoodie when his hand brushed over the cut I made when he left.

“What is that?” Vlad asked as he looked at the cuts. “Why would you do this to yourself? I didn’t know that you would be that lonely. I’m so sorry.” He said hugging me.

“It’s not your fault. Just events happen and usually I can’t stop them.” I said cuddling up to his chest cause I was freezing my ass off. He helped me put his jacket on and grabbed his guitar then we walked back to my snowmobile.

“Give me the keys.” Vlad said while I handed them to him as he climbed on. “You are going home aren’t you?” He asked wondering why I was standing there.

I was spacing out about what am I gonna do since once we get back to my house I won’t see him anymore. I climbed onto the snow mobile and held onto Vlad for dear life cause it was my snowmobile and it’s extremely fast. We got to my house and he hopped off the snowmobile with me so that I could put it away.

“I guess this is good-bye again. I’ll miss you Vlad.” I said taking off his coat with a tear running down my cheek. He grabbed my hands holding them.

“You’re going to freeze if you keep crying out here.” He said pulling me closer to him. I wanted to look into his eyes and tell him I never wanted to be separated, but if I looked into his eyes I would have the urge to kiss him. I hugged him because I love him and I was extremely cold now that I’ve taken off his coat. His arms wrapped around me engulfing me in warmth.

“Sorry I got really cold.” I said into his chest. “Please don’t let go.” I said silently crying into his chest.

“I wish I could but I can’t.” He said gave me one last hug then walked away back home with his coat.

I stood there in the freezing cold in drenched clothes just watching him walk away knowing that I’ll never see him again.

Damn doesn’t this sound sappy?

Well knowing I won’t see him ever again I put my snowmobile away and then went inside so I could get out of my wet clothes and into something warm and now something warm to eat probably because I am sick. My mom was busy doing stuff for work I just walked inside asked her to make me some chicken noodle soup and went to my room to lie down in my bed. I quickly changed out of my wet clothes and put on my pjs which keep me so nice and warm except for the tank top. I grabbed my 30 Seconds to Mars butterfly hoodie and put it on so I didn’t have to hide in my covers for warmth and turned on the TV and my music. I muted the TV so I could listen to Float On by Modest Mouse. I really wanted to dance but I would increase the chances of staying sick longer and I really don’t want to stay in bed for a long time. After a couple of minutes my mom came in with a nice hot bowl of chicken noodle soup.

“So where did you go? I tried calling but I guess you didn’t notice.” She said sitting on the edge of my bed as I pigged out.

“I left my phone at home on accident. I just wanted to be alone and not be bugged by people, but I did run into Vlad when I was in town. He drove me and my snowmobile home since he found me when I finished making a snow angel and started freezing in the snow.” I said taking a break from eating.

“Oh you saw this mysterious Vlad. Did you guys kiss?” She said sounding like a teenager.

“No I wanted to though, but apparently we can’t see each other anymore. He says it’s because of his parents or something.” I said then looked disappointed at my empty soup bowl.

“Aw it’s ok honey I have a feeling everything will be better soon trust me. And I bought you that hair dye you wanted it’s on your dresser.” She said then walked out of my room.

“Thanks mom!” I shouted to her as I got up from bed and looked at the hair dye. I never asked her for hair dye. Oh well it was a nice purple so since my hair is black it would turn dark purple. So I went to the bathroom and started dying the under of my hair purple. After a while of dying my hair and washing it out I had a nice dark purple under and I went back to my room got dressed in a Three Days Grace t-shirt, my now dry grey skinny jeans, my black converse and the hoodie I was wearing.

“Mom I’m going for a walk!” I said walking towards the front door.

“No more snow angels!” She shouted at me as I closed the front door behind me and took a walk around the neighborhood in the cold. I should’ve brought a coat.

I walked a couple of blocks away from my house when I heard some shouting from a house with in the driveway two cars one was a giant humor the other was this dinky little bug car. I hid behind the humor and saw two people talking, one was a guy who I couldn’t see, but I could only see the back of his head. The other person was a girl with brown hair and beautiful.

“Why won’t you come back we need you. I need you. You don’t belong here you should be with me and your real friends.” She said rubbing his arms and holding his hands.

“Those aren’t my friends! They only like me for the power I have. They’re actually terrified of me. Besides I like the people here and back in Florida.” He said getting out of her arms reach.

“But Vlad I love you! Why can’t you look in your heart and see that you really love me too.” She said putting her hands up to her chest trying to make him feel guilty.

VLAD?!?! What the fuck? Is this who Vlad was talking about? Well no wonder he dumped her she’s a total creeper.

I saw the girl start leaning towards Vlad her lips starting to pucker into a kiss and Vlad jumped back immediately causing her to fall off a step and her white dress to go up. Probably thinks it makes her look sexy or something. Fucking slut hope she burns in hell.

Then she looked in my direction and I quickly hid behind the truck and pulled out my iPod and started blasting music in my ears and walked by so that it looks like I was just someone on a walk. I stared at them for a little bit made eye contact with Vlad and just kept walking and then looked back straight ahead back to where my focus should be on my walk and where I’m walking.

After I was out of sight behind a fence I tripped and landed on some trashcans and ended up screaming. I heard some people running towards me while I laid on the trashcans and trash a little dazed and looking up at the sky and the stars were out.

“Such pretty stars out tonight.” I said as I looked up and Vlad and the girl staring at me with worry in their eyes. They both reached out a hand to help me up and once I was up they asked questions.

“Do you know who you are? Do you know where you are? Where do you live I’ll take you home.” The girl said putting a hand lightly on my arm.

“No I’m good I think I can walk home. I must have been spacing out so I accidently crashed into the trashcans. Sorry if I startled you or anything. I’ll just be on my way now. Sorry for disturbing you.” I said and started walking away when the girl grabbed my arm.

“Have you seen one of us before?” She said gripping my arm tighter.

“I haven’t seen either of you until tonight. I really didn’t mean to interrupt anything. I really need to be going my mom’s waiting for me at home. I guess I’ll see you guys at school if we have it tomorrow. Thanks for your concern but I’m fine.” I said then quickly walked away that turned into a sprint home.

I walked inside my house and I was still in shock about how that girl wanted to be with Vlad, but at least I know that Vlad doesn’t like her very much. I went to my room laid down and started playing some music. I didn’t notice I drifted to sleep, but I woke up with a tapping at my window. I got up and opened it and there was Vlad squatting on my windowsill looking at me.

“What’s this visit for? I didn’t mean to interrupt the conversation with you and that girl.” I paused before I said girl and just stared at the floor avoiding whatever look he had in his eyes.

“Kaige it’s ok. Mari is just weird and creepy. I promise that she won’t hurt you.” He said hugging me after he climbed into my room.

“What happened to this I can’t ever see you again thing? I mean I get it but I keep running into you every day since you moved here.” I said backing away questioning. He tilted my chin up and we stared into each other’s eyes.

“You have beautiful eyes.” He said and I think he was getting closer I could now feel his breath on my lips. He was just a few millimeters from my lips when he backed away and he said. “I can’t, shouldn’t, won’t. I’m sorry but I’ve risked being here tonight.” He backed up and went back to the window.

“Guess I’ll see you at school then.” I said then crawled into bed not caring anymore if I were in my pjs or not. Once he closed the window and I heard him walk off the roof then I got up walked to my desk looked for the razor and slashed my forearm a little bit farther down close to my ‘X’ cut. I let it bleed a little bit then I put the razor down and stared at the blood for a couple of seconds then cleaned it up.

I got up at 6:30 to my mom yelling at me to get up. I quickly got up grabbed an over-sized My Chemical Romance t-shirt, and the jeans I wore yesterday and quickly put on my converse and ran out of my bedroom quickly down stairs grabbed my backpack and a piece of toast and ran outside to the bus stop eating toast. I reached the bus stop and took a bite of my toast when the bus rolled up. The doors opened and I got on the bus taking another bite of toast and looked down the aisle to find a seat. I walked down the aisle avoiding spitballs and people trying to trip me to the seat near the back and sat down. After I finished my piece of toast I started playing my iPod and I just stared out the window not wanting to go to school. The bus got to a sudden stop and I kinda hit my head on the seat in front of me.

When I looked at who was climbing on the bus was Mari and Vlad. I quickly looked away when Vlad tried to make eye contact with me. I felt someone sit next to me. I turned and saw Mari sitting next to me with a nice smile and my face was probably terrified.

“Hiya! You’re that girl who fell into the trashcans.” She said pointing at me. I really wanted to punch her for saying that really loud.

“Yeah that’s me. Name’s Kaige and yours?” I said extending my hand to have a proper greeting.

“My name is Mari. I would’ve never guessed that we would be on the same bus.” Mari said shaking my hand really quickly then letting go and she kept on babbling about stuff. I have a feeling that she wants to be my friend and is going to annoy me very much. I put my headphones back into my ears and just blasted my music really loud so that I wouldn’t have to hear her talking about stuff I really don’t care about.

We finally pulled up to the school and once I got off the bus I ran to get to my locker so I wouldn’t have to talk to Mari anymore or at least listen to her talking. I got to my locker looked at the happy picture of Helena and me and felt a little part of me die inside. She hasn’t even tried making contact with me. I took the picture and shoved it somewhere in my locker because she’s probably forgotten about me and has new friends and doesn’t need to remember her old friend. Someone walked up next to me. He was someone who I’ve never seen before. Probably just moved in like Vlad and Mari.

“Can I help you?” I asked as I looked at him. He had brown hair, wore lots of dark red and black, had blue eyes, and snakebites. He was practically as hot as Vlad.

“Actually it’s what can I do to help you.” He said reaching into my locker and taking out the picture of Helena and me. “This your friend? She’s very beautiful, but not as beautiful as you.” He said with a smile that could probably make girls melt only a little bit for me not as much if Vlad smiled at me.

“Stay away from her. And what do you really want.” I said as I grabbed the picture from him shoved it back in my locker and closed it.

“I just want to find out more about you. That’s all darling.” He said holding my chin. He is such a sweet talker trying to get what he wants. I slapped his hand and started walking away. He quickly grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him and dipping me while holding me against his chest and in his arms. His face was so close to mine that I was scared that he was going to kiss me, that and my face was bright red.

“Now all I want to do is get to know you. We could do this the easy way or the hard way.” He said I could see anger starting to form in his eyes.

“Then if you want to get to know me you’re doing a horrible job and making a shitload of people stare. You should try talking to me like a normal person.” I said as he helped me out of the dip. “Now please to dear god don’t do that again.” I said walking away from this creeper.

I kept walking to my first period and I had a feeling that he was behind me following me. Yep this guy is a creepy stalker, great. Why do the weird ones have to be so freaking hot? I wasn’t paying attention so I crashed into someone. I looked up at who I crashed into and it was Vlad.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to.” I said then walked past him looking down at the ground continuing to get to my first period class, and yet I still felt someone following me. It was probably that stalker guy from earlier. I reached my classroom and went to sit in my usual desk in the back of the room where the teacher doesn’t notice me and an empty desk where Helena used to sit. I kinda wish I didn’t come to school today. The bell rang I put my feet up on my desk and blasted my music in my ears and drifted to sleep. I was sleeping peacefully with Silverstein playing in my ears when the teacher slammed a ruler on my desk to get my attention. When I looked up she was walking back to the front of the room when I pulled one of my ear buds out and saw Vlad, Mari, and the creeper standing up in the front of the classroom.

“Now that I have everyone’s attention, Kaige, would you like to take our new students on a tour of the school?” She said in all of her old bag pride, or what’s left of it.

“Why do I get stuck with it? I mean there are actually other students who want to give tours of the school.” I said in my protest of really not wanting to give a tour of this goddamn school.

“Well at least tour one of the students.” She said turning to the three students.

“I can live with that.” I said chilling back in my desk. The teacher looked at the three of them and I started praying that I wouldn’t be stuck with Mari.

“You closest one to the door. State your name and go sit next to Kaige in the back of the room.” She pointed at the creeper.

“My name is Genesis and it is great to be here.” He said with a smile and I heard some of the girls in the class giggle. Genesis sat down in Helena’s old seat, he smiled at me. I flipped him off put my ear bud back in my ear and went to sleep ignoring the teacher yelling at me. I was sleeping a nice dream when someone tapped me on the shoulder and woke me up. I turned and saw Genesis was sitting closer to me which meant it was a partner activity.

“I guess I have to start working now huh?” I said yawning putting my iPod away and my feet down back on the floor.

“Yeah. Mari already took Vlad and I guess no one else would want to be your partner so I guess you’re stuck with me.” Genesis said with a smirk on his face.

“Well I guess I could bear with you as long as you don’t do what you did this morning.” I said and realizing that he was sitting in my best friend’s old seat.

“I noticed that you don’t act so depressing or trouble-maker in class. Was there someone who moved away or something that caused you to change this much.” He asked and I could see that his eyes were analyzing something about me.

“You’re actually sitting in her old seat. I don’t hear from her that much anymore so I guess it’s ok.” I said staring at the paper in front of me. Then Genesis raised his hand and said. “Kaige is gonna take me to the nurse because I don’t feel so good.” Then he got up and pulled me up too and dragged me out the door. We went into the hallway and we started to walk slowly.

“Show me your right forearm.” He said grabbing my right arm and turning it over to my wrist to see the cuts I’ve made. His face was in shock and I had tears welling up in my eyes. “How alone are you?” He asked still holding my arm.

“So alone that I don’t know what to do, where to go, or who to go to.” I said now with tears rolling down my cheeks. I looked at the ground through my tears and I felt Genesis hugging me.

“I’m here for you don’t worry. I won’t leave you.” He whispered in my ear.

“You promise?” I said crying into his shoulder and cuddling up into his chest. He kissed the top of my head just like Vlad does. I wrapped my arms around Genesis’s neck and just stood there with him crying. After a while and I thought that I’ve calmed down with tears still going down my face I looked up at Genesis who looked down at me and I could see that he knew exactly how I felt. We started moving closer to each other I could feel his breath on my skin as we were about to kiss someone came out of a classroom and stopped. I turned just before Genesis was about to kiss me making him kiss my hair. I saw Vlad standing there staring at us. I could already see the fury burning in his eyes for some reason. He marched his way over here and pulled me away from Genesis causing me to cry some more.

“Genesis what the fuck are you doing! You stay away from her!” He said pushing me out of the way.

“There’s no label on her saying that she’s yours I can do whatever I want you’re not Lucifer!” Genesis shouted back at Vlad. I backed up into a locker and quickly ran back into the classroom.

“Kaige where are you going?” Teacher said as I grabbed my stuff and walked back toward the door.

“I puked I’m going home.” I said then walked out and slammed the door behind myself. The guys heard the slam. I looked at them and just walked away thinking how fucking immature they are. I walked out of the school and ran home.

I got home my mom greeted me and questioned I ignored her and went straight to my room to grab my hoodie and climbed out of my window onto the roof. I also grabbed the razor. Once I was on my roof I stared into the abyss of white called my neighborhood as it started to snow, again. I sighed then took the razor out and rolled up my sleeve.

“Here’s one for being lonely. One for horrible life, and now one for I wish I was dead.” I said to myself as I made another cut on my forearm. Like I always do when I cut myself I watch the blood trickle down my arm onto the snow on my roof.

“You’re going to get frostbite from that or something.” I heard a familiar voice say. I looked up and saw Vlad walking up to me on my roof. I felt a smile forming on my face.

“I thought you would want some company. That and if Genesis can break the rules so can I.” Vlad said as he sat next to me and started bandaging up my cuts.

“You really should be taking better care of your cuts.” He said and there was a moment of silence while he finished with the bandage.

“I’m sorry for what happened in the hallway with Genesis. It’s just that the teacher sent me to get you back in class and when I saw you two and I just…It broke my heart seeing you in his arms. I just wanted to hurt him so much. You’re alright though aren’t you?” He said looking at me, concern consuming his eyes.

“No he didn’t. It’s just that he was comforting me and gave me a hug because I really needed one. What was weird was that he was acting like you.” I said leaning on him and resting my head on his shoulder. I got up and climbed off the roof back to my room. Once I was in my room Vlad came in with me and closed the window behind me.

He turned me around and said. “I don’t think one kiss won’t kill me.” He said and we were about to kiss when my mom walked in and he just jumped up on to my ceiling without her noticing.

“Honey do you want to talk about something? Anything bothering you at school?” She asked worried like hell. I could tell because of the look on her face.

“No mom school was closed early on account of the snow.” I said then pushed her out of my room ignoring what else she had to say then locked the door behind her while Vlad came down from my ceiling.

“I’m guessing you have to go.” I said arms crossed and looking at the floor.

“I promise I’ll be back. I also promise that I’ll protect you from anything and anyone.” He said hugging me and kissing the top of my head and then left, but before he reached the window he turned around and dug into my hoodie pocket and took the razor out.

“I am confiscating this from you.” He said then walked toward the window.

“Hey!” I shouted at him as he climbed out and went back to his house. Dammit. He took the razor, but it wasn’t the razor I took from Helena it was a different one.

“It’s great to know that you like me Vlad, but Genesis might be a little challenge for you.” I said as I looked at the razor walking around. I put the razor on my desk and started blasting music dancing around to Float On since I couldn’t when I was sick. I was dancing around, but after a while I heard someone knock on my window. I was hoping that it would be Vlad so when I opened the window with a smile it quickly disappeared as I saw Genesis.

“Hello beautiful, may I come in?” He said climbing into my room and closing the window behind himself. He wrapped his arms around me and before I could talk he said. “I had a feeling that you missed me, love.” Genesis started kissing me from my neck and down to my collar bone.

“What the fuck are you doing?” I asked pushing him away from me.

“I thought we had a connection there in the hallway. I know I had one I was wondering if you had one too.” He said coming towards me arms wide and probably going to kiss me when I slapped him hard upside the cheek. He fell back and crashed into my wall.

“What the hell was that for?” He said putting his hands on his cheek from where I slapped him.

“Get out of my house and never come back!” I shouted at him.

“You don’t even know me that well and you’re already kicking me out that’s not very nice of you, love.” He said walking towards me I could see the anger practically flowing out of his eyes.

“You don’t even know me and yet you’re coming into my house like you’re my best friend!” I shouted at him backing up each time he took a step towards me.

“You let Vlad come in here and he doesn’t know anything about you yet you treat him like you’ve known him all your life. Well I’ve had enough of it.” He paused to corner me on my door putting his arms against the door so I don’t try to escape.

“Besides I can do something that Vlad would never do to you. Take you to see Helena. I know you miss her, you want to see her, and you want to know if she’s alive. I can help you find out, I can help you repair your broken friendship with her.” He said his voice barely above a whisper.

I stared into his eyes noticing the compassion and love he had for me, but something in his eyes I couldn’t see what he was trying to hide. My door opened from behind and I fell backwards while Genesis fell forward on top of me his lips just missing mine by a couple of inches. I looked up and saw my mom staring down at me. That’s the problem with my door, if you tried really hard it can open up into the hallway.

“So Kaige is this Vlad by any chance?” She asked as I pushed Genesis off of me onto the floor.

“No mom this is just a partner of mine from class he was just leaving actually.” I said getting up.

“Well does he have a name or do I call him person?”

“Call him person and he was just leaving like I said I’ll show him the door actually.” I said then grabbed Genesis’s ear and dragged him downstairs towards the front door.

“Ow! Be careful dear!” Genesis said as I pushed him outside when I opened the door.

“I am not your dear, love or any other stupid nickname! And if you can contact me to Helena prove it.” I said then slammed the door locked it and ran up to my room closed my door and locked it then ran to my window and locked it.

I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling where there were footprints on it from when Vlad was here. After a while of laying there wishing I was dead I got up took the razor and instead of my arm where they both would check I cut my leg and watched it like I always do trickle down my leg. This time I quickly cleaned it up because Vlad said he would be coming back and I didn’t want him to see what I did. I started to feel lonely. With the fact that my mom probably thinks I’m a freak like everyone at school, Genesis saying that he can get me to see Helena, and having no one to talk to or give you a hug when you needed one. I shoved the razor into my hoodie pocket, stuffed pillows under the covers of my bed to make it look like I was sleeping and started blasting music like I usually do when I go to bed. I climbed out my window and crawled off the roof and started to walk around town. I was planning on walking around the town, but when I walked past a forest I took a detour. I walked around the forest when I found a nice secluded area, which means when I got lost enough, I cleared off a patch in the snow and laid down on the ground starring up at the starry sky.

I just thought about what would happen in the future. Would I marry Vlad out of love or would I marry Genesis out of fear and able to see my best friend? I was just scared of what is going to happen because Vlad and Genesis are obviously showing that they want to rip each other’s throats out. I felt a tear roll down my cheek and then I heard someone swearing and shouting. I got up and walked around searching for the source of who was having a fit. After I walked a couple of more feet in the woods I found Vlad standing his back turned toward me angry. He was breathing heavily and when I took a step towards him and he turned his head and I could only see the right half of his face and he was crying.

“Kaige? Are you all right?” He said turning towards me his anger disappearing now filled with sadness and misery. Vlad was torn to pieces. I just broke at the sight of him. Tears were rolling down my face and I ran up and hugged him which surprised him and we both fell onto the ground tears on our faces.

“Play me a song it’s been too long since I’ve heard you sing.” I said cuddling up into his chest. He released a sigh of relief and started singing Broken by Seether. His voice just comforts me when I feel like I’m going to go insane or try to kill myself. When he stopped singing when I looked up at him and he looked down at me and our faces moved closer together and he kissed me. I felt like I was in a movie especially since I was freezing outside I couldn’t feel anything I just kept kissing him and he was kissing me. Once we broke apart from our kiss I cuddled closer to Vlad as he wrapped his arms around me.

“I never want to be away from you Kaige. I love you.” He said trying to keep me warm.

“Genesis came by a few minutes after you left.” I said into his chest.

“What? Did he hurt you or anything?” Vlad said now worried pushing himself away to look me in the face.

“He kept calling me love and dear. He said he could take me to see Helena then my mom caught him and thought she was interrupting us kissing or something when we weren’t. I dragged him out of my house by his ear and told him I might go with him if he had proof to get me to see Helena.” I said tears rolling down my cheeks.

“Kaige, I didn’t want you to cry over this. This is what I was trying to avoid. I’m sorry that you got into all of this.” Vlad said stroking my cheek.

“What did I get into?” I asked curious yet softly cause man was I tired and freezing my ass off.

“I’ll tell you later. When you can understand things a little better.” He said then pulled me towards him to keep me warm. I was tired from walking and the blood loss, so when I was cuddling up to his chest I passed out tired.

I had that dream again, but this time I could kinda see who the person throwing the knife was. It was just a figure with wings. I couldn’t tell what color the wings were but the wings were so beautiful. When I woke up I was surprised to be in my room. I got up and turned on the light on my desk which had a note on it that said.

‘Kaige, I kinda brought you home because you passed out. I wanted to spend more time with you, but you were starting to freeze so I decided not to. I know you probably wanted to see me when you woke up, but I had to go. I’m sorry. Love Vlad.’ And there was something under the note. It was a necklace. It was made of black silver with red jewels in the shape of a cross in the center was a red circular jewel. It was so beautiful. I put the necklace on and looked at myself in the mirror and saw that it was beautiful. I opened my window to find Genesis sitting on the window sill staring off into the neighborhood.

“Can I help you?” I said loudly for him to hear.

“Actually yes, love, you can say good-bye to Vlad, and hello to Helena.” Genesis said holding a picture of Helena flipping off the camera.

I took that picture after we went to a My Chemical Romance concert when she got pissed off at me.

“I took that picture retard. It was when me and her snuck out to see a concert.” I said and snatched the picture away from him. “Also shouldn’t you be getting ready for school?” I asked putting the picture on my desk.

“School’s canceled which means you and me can hang out and get to know each other.” He said with a cocky grin on.

“Fat chance pretty boy.” I said starting to close the window and Genesis stopped me and climbed into my room.

“I thought we had a deal.” He said anger brewing up in his eyes.

“We still do. It doesn’t count if you haven’t met her or taken a picture of her. I might as well call off the deal cause well you’re cheating and we never shook on it or got it in writing so technically we never had a deal.” I said then started pushing him toward the window.

“Well that means that I don’t have to get proof and I can come here anytime I want.” He said with another cocky grin on his face.

“Wrong you stay away from my house and go fuck yourself.” I said shoved him out the window and quickly closed it and locked it so he won’t come in. I walked back to the mirror to admire the necklace Vlad gave me then went back to bed. I woke up a couple hours later and hoped that it was sunny but it was still gray outside and that meant no sun. I sighed then got up and got dressed to go down stairs and enjoy the little presence of my mom and breakfast. I got to the kitchen and sat down and a plate was automatically placed in front of me.

“What’s the rush mom?” I asked as she rushed around the kitchen cooking a lot of food and working on a new case. She’s a detective for very special occasions and a lawyer so she gets busy during months of holidays. I was just surprised that she didn’t cook any of her paper work in my food.

“Oh sorry honey. I might be out of town for a while, got some major cases out in California. It’ll just be a couple of weeks don’t worry.” She said still bustling about the kitchen.

“How long will you be gone?” I asked as I ate my breakfast.

“I’m going to be there until after your winter break. And I know that it’s going to be a long time that’s why I’m cooking a lot right now.” She said almost throwing one of her papers into the toaster.

“Alright then I’ll stay out of your way. I won’t throw a party. And I’m also guessing I’m buying my own Christmas presents this year. I’ll contact you whenever I go out.” I said as I started to clean up my dishes and back off from her work.

“I’ll try and send you something while I’m in California.” She said smiled at me while I walked away and up to my room. While I was on the stairs the phone rang. I picked it up and it said that school is closed until after winter break on account of the snow. I sighed put my shoes on and walked outside into my backyard. I took a deep breath and I felt a nice small smile on my face to know that I’ll be in solitude for the next couple of weeks. I gotta put the Christmas tree up along with its decorations, decorate the house, and throw my annual invite-a-friend-over-for-New-Year’s party. Shit. I don’t have a friend who I see a lot anymore. Maybe I’ll ask Vlad or Genesis if he is nice enough. I went back inside and into the living room to play Left for Dead 2 on my Xbox 360. I don’t care whoever I play with I play Ellis no matter what. It’s so much fun swinging an axe around decapitating zombies or cutting them in half with a chain saw or using an assault rifle with normal or fire bullets which if you shoot a zombie it catches on fire! God I love Left for Dead, the games are great, but sometimes I like to play Assassin’s Creed either 1 or 2.

As I was about to get on a helicopter to safety, when my mom shouted, “I’m leaving, I already made you the food you need and someone’s at the door for you.” She said then closed the door behind her. I got up and walked to the front door to find Vlad standing there his mouth open in awe while looking around the house.

“So this is how big your house actually is.” He said then I ran up and hugged him so glad to see him.

“I’m guessing you missed me huh?” He said engulfing me in his arms.

“I missed you a lot.” I said still hugging him. I led him into the living room turned off the 360 and started to play The Used on the speakers. Vlad sat down on one of the couches and when I was done I cuddled up to Vlad on the couch because it was cold in the house. I don’t know how to change the thermostat. Yes I am sometimes technology challenged, but it’s just one of my many perks.

“I’m sorry it’s been awhile. I’ve been busy lately.” Vlad said stroking my hair while I cuddled next to him.

“Genesis keeps coming over whenever you leave. It’s getting really annoying, but it’s time to ignore him. Wanna help me put up the Christmas tree?” I asked getting up heading towards the basement where the tree is stored.

“Genesis comes over when I leave?” He asked getting up from the couch and taking a few steps forward.

“Yeah! It’s really weird, he keeps trying to kiss me or something. He’s doing a really bad job of trying to get to know me.” I said as I went into the basement quickly retrieved the Christmas tree and then lugged it up stairs. Vlad said something when I was downstairs, but he came quickly when I was at the top of the stairs.

“Kaige could we please test something? I’ll help you with your tree right after it.” Vlad asked me as we put the box covered in more boxes down on the floor of my living room.

“Alright just promise you’ll be back.” I said then hugged him.

“I promise.” He said then kissed me and left. I sighed then started putting the boxes full of decorations off of the Christmas tree onto the couch when the doorbell rang. I walked to the door and already figured that it was Genesis at the door.

“Ello my love. I’ve come to say hello and that I prepare a beautiful dinner for you and I. I mean if I may.” He said with the first actually caring smile I’ve ever seen him have.

“Well you’ve said hello and my mom already cooked me dinner for the next couple of months. So I don’t think that you’ll be staying for dinner so see you at school whenever that is. Bye.” I said and started to close the door when he barged in through my front door along with closing it. “Or you could just walk right into my house.” I said as I followed him into my living room.

“I just really wanted to see you Kaige. I know that you might not notice but I really do love you.” He said wrapping his arms around me from behind when I walked into the living room. He also rested his head on my shoulder.

“Yeah sure. Well if you do want to stay you could help me put up my Christmas tree.” I said while escaping his hug as he followed me to the boxes.

“Why can’t we just cuddle or make out or something?” Genesis said hugging me again except this time his face got closer to mine probably to try and kiss me. I had a feeling Vlad was gonna come in soon so I just played along and started crying into his shoulder and wrapping my arms around him.

“Kaige, please don’t cry.” He sighed. Then after a couple minutes of fake crying, Vlad walked in my front door and walked into the living room. Right when he walked in I broke away from Genesis and walked over to Vlad to give him a hug.

“See I told you he always came right when you leave he also acts like you a lot.” I said then went back to the boxes where Genesis was standing and started getting my plastic Christmas tree out of its container. I had a feeling that they were staring down each other.

“So are you two going to stand there like idiots or help me put up my Christmas tree?” I asked getting the base out and putting it down near a corner of the room.

“Wait Kaige you used me? Just to prove something to goodie-two-shoes over there? Damn that turns me on! I don’t care if he’s your boyfriend come ‘ere!” Genesis said then came over to me picked me up and started kissing me on the cheek. I started hitting Genesis as soon as he picked me up, since honestly he pissed me off a lot. Since he wouldn’t put me down Vlad came up to us grabbed me and put me down next to him.

“Don’t touch her!” He shouted at Genesis.

“Wow don’t I feel like a doll.” I said and I went back to putting my Christmas tree up.

“You finally going to start something huh pretty boy?” Genesis said it just oozing cockiness.

“If you two are going to fight please take it outside so you don’t destroy my house.” I said still putting up the tree practically ignoring the two guys in my house practically itching to start killing each other. They had a quick little stare down between each other then they each started helping me put up the Christmas tree, finally. We finished putting the tree part up now we were getting ready to put up the decorations when I walked out of the room to get some food. I settled on mom’s famous white and milk chocolate chip cookies. Yes I know I’m that childish. I came back and they had each other in a head lock.
