It doesn't lurk in back alleys or hide its face in the dark; Only your trust it has to please to make you a hapless mark. You meet it as Dr. Jekyll and never suspect Mr. Hyde, Until it has devoured its kill and thrown the crumbs aside. Mawkish words & slick talk are all part of the chicanery; Falsely secure with a lock, duped with a stolen spare key! In tricks & deceit it does bask and feeds upon innocence; Once you remove that mask, you realize t'was just a pretence!
