Line count: 21
For Stormy’s contest due 13 February, 2012, use the following words(any form): LONELINESS, FLAME, SENSES, SKY, HEARTS, PRISON, YOUTH, SEASONS Haiku/Tanka Form/ Syllabic count: 57577 “Father Bird” Huddled loneliness. Senses fight against the freeze: a gray sky season. Heart inflamed by stinging wind keeps feathered youth imprisoned. (Interesting that it is the father Penguin who protects the egg in the long, dark Antarctic winter. He balances the egg atop his feet & turns his back to the winter blast and goes without food! When the mother bird returns with a full belly of fish to regurgitate, he is hesitant to turn over the keeping of his child to the mother.)
