The scene opens on an dark warehouse room. The room is based of four walls and on the east side wall, there is an open window with white curtains blowing in the breeze. On the west side of the room is an open door showing stairs going down. The window shows a starless sky, with an intimidating full moon. Under left curtain is a wooden desk with all its drawers open and shiny red liquid on top. There are crumpled pieces of paper, leaves, and broken bones on the floor.
Running footsteps are heard coming up the steps. A dirty rat from under a crumpled piece of paper runs across the floor to behind the desk. A teenage male voice is heard. Andres: C'mon! We need to save them! A boy of about fourteen runs into the room and stops to look around. He is dressed in a navy blue hoodie, with the words, Ambercrombie, written across in capital white letters, black jeans, leather fingerless gloves, and dirty white sneakers. He has dirt all over his face and a wild look in his green eyes. A teenage girls voice is heard and more running footsteps are heard. Jacklyn: [out of breath] Andy! A girl of thirteen slams into Andres. She is dressed in a green and black checkerboard dress with fishnet stockings and combat boots. Dirt is also on her face, but a curious look is in her blue eyes. She looks around the room. Jacklyn: [sorrowfully whispers] Oh, Andy... Andres: [furious whisper] We should've been here Andres runs to the open window and looks out toward the sky. The moon is reflected in his green eyes. His eyes begin to water. Jacklyn: [whisper] I'm so sorry Jacklyn walks to Andres. Hearing her steps, Andres wipes his eyes and tries to keep himself together. Jacklyn rests a hand on Andres left shoulder and looks out at the moon with him. Andres: They're gone... It's all my fault. Jacklyn: [forcefully] Don't you dare say that Andy. Andres bows his head and pinches the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb. Andres: [shaking his head] Jackie... you don't understand... Jacklyn: [mad] No, you don't understand. You did everything that was in your power to stop it. [softer] There was nothing more that could have been done.... Andres looks Jacklyn square in the eyes. Andres: There was something I could have done. I could have told them. Andres walks toward the desk. He looks down and breaks down. He starts to cry, no longer trying to hide it from Jacklyn. Jacklyn: [confused] What do you mean, you could've told? What was there to tell? Andres stops crying for a moment then looks at Jacklyn, with sorrow in his eyes. Andres: I do not want to burden you- Jacklyn: [yelling] To hell with burdening me! Tell me what the hell is going on? I am already wrapped up in this crap! Tell me. Andres looks down at his left arm. He takes off the glove and pulls up his sleeve. He turns his arm, palm side up and shows Jacklyn a tattoo that goes from his palm to his elbow. The tattoo is done in purple ink. At first, the tattoo looks like a straight line, but then it starts to curve, then gets jagged edges. The line almost seems to dance. The purple ink turns to red, then blue, then green. Jacklyn: [gasp] You're... Jacklyn gulps then looks at Andres in fright. She resembles a deer caught in the headlights. Andres meets her gaze with more tears in his eyes. Andres: Jackie, I'm a Marked.
