I bumped the “Talk” button while the phone was still in my pocket.

Fumbling,

“Hello.”

“Uhhhh…. I need to get my house cleaned.”

The first phone call I received from Craigslist was a disaster. In every way!

“I have to warn you, the house is a little messy.”

The definition of “messy” would turn out to be 5 dogs, 4 cats, and poop on the floors.

And we only charged $50. But it was our first customer, and like they say,

“Your first client or customer is always the hardest to get.”

My house cleaning business was actually lucky… your first phone call might not be your first sale. Just be prepared to offer the client or customer a great deal if you want your first Craigslist ad to lead to cash in your pocket.

Even if it means you have to pick-up dog poop for less than its worth.
