This Child

This child has been abused,
can you see the tell tale signs,
can you turn away,
could you be so blind.

This child has been abused,
can you see the bruises on her back,
see the look in her eyes,
which has nearly broken my heart.

This child has been abused,
so please don’t look away,
if you or I deny her,
she may not have another day.

This child has been abused,
hear her plead in a silent voice,
she begs you to stay, to go, to save her,
she knows you have a choice.

This child has been abused,
and she is looking desperately for love,
you can wilt her, you can save her,
you can gift her with grace from above.

This child has been abused,
can you see the tell tale signs,
her cries ring in my ears,
her pleas forever in my mind.
