Once on a still winter night, In the land across the ocean, A little girl dreamed a dream. The dream was of dancing fairies, They called to her, “come, come to our forest”. So over the dew she went, and into the night. The trees smiled at her as she followed the fairies call, The queen welcomed her to their circle with delight. Curious rituals they had of dancing and singing, Songs of tales of the ways of the old fairies. Their steps were fast, graceful and dangerous. And their song was as sweet as that of a siren. But then a evil descended into their beautiful eyes, They mocked her and called her names. The little girl's eyes showed terror and fright, All the witches showed was pure delight. And from the sky came the witch of good, She swept the girl up and took her for a ride, Back to the cozy bed that she now longed for. The rest of the night she slept without a sound, Morning came fast and the sun rose high. The little girl stared out her window, She knew she would never forget this night, Or the fairies who came and tried to control her life.
