The boys of today, they grow so tall. |
| REEBOK Effortless movements a young boy had, Running to school’ in his mouth a fag, He had Reebok signed satchel’ and Reebok signed shoes, His shirt tail hanging’ his shoe laces loose, He kept on running’ up a little lane, Meeting with others with hair like manes, These boys of today’ they grow so tall, I try to avoid them’ I feel so small, In my day’ I was standard size, Bought suits of the peg’ shop soiled’ half price, When we were boys’ we behaved ourselves, We respected our elders’ we had to! Or else, We always listened’ when our elders spoke, When it was over’ we went for a smoke. We were well mannered children, With worn well clothes, With a shining sleeve’ and a sniffling nose, That how it was when we were boys, We didn’t complain’ we had no choice, We never had money’ to buy anything, Everything was kept’ even a piece of string, We were never lookers in them old days, Time has not improved us’ or our ways. No sparkling teeth’ only margarine hair, The girls in our lives’ they were never there, As summers came by’ flies were around’, Continuous drone’ a buzzing sound, Then winter came in’ the margarine froze, We always sniffled’ with cold in the nose Well beggars can’t be choosers, as the saying goes, If anything was on offer’ we were on our toes, Our hand me down shoes’ were always too big, We stuffed them with paper’ to make them fit. Our designer clothes had a rummage sale tag, In very good condition’’ ‘written on the back..! . |
