Forever Died at Once
A fictional poem about a dark and very difficult topic and place to be in. |
-Forever Died at Once- by Keaton Foster All that I loved Forever died at once Taken from me No reason seen No explanation granted Many say it was an accident Not I. The crude nature of their deaths Indicates that it may have been payback For what, I have not a clue But there is little else That for me would explain Such absolute brutality. Crushed to death A hell of a way to go One second smiling Watching the world scream by The next, forever stopped Certainly a deafening And unforgiving impact. As a way to comfort me They said that those I loved Died as instant as someone Shutting off a light switch As instant as the snap Of their necks. I was and am unable To find any comfort In knowing that death Was an instant as implied I am not convinced Nor will I ever be. That one split second That one instant The realization that There will never be another Has to be as long as forever Far too long for those In the midst of facing it. All that I loved Forever died at once Ripped from my grasp Taken from my protection Leaving me alone in my skin and bones A prison without them. I buried each one with care In a unfinished row Someday, probably soon I will join them in death's embrace Only in such an eternal state Do we have a chance to be as one. All that I loved Forever died at once I am left here alone Such a hell of a thing Such a hell of a feeling Knowing what happened to them As well as me… Forever Died at Once Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
