Bury The Castle
A special poem about broken love set to a fairytale of sorts. |
-Bury The Castle- by Keaton Foster She said I love you She said I want to help you She spoke Many amazing lies Then one dark day She walked right by She did not stop She did not turn around She just moved right along I watched her go Never have I ever Felt so terribly alone Never has my heart Hurt so much But no matter what I wished No matter what I wanted I just let her go No longer could I hurt her In the ways that I had I could not further betray My unrelenting love for her If she didn't want me Then it was best I had to let her go I had to bury the castle The fortress of our love That her and I had built One time I was her prince One time she was my princess No greater fairytale has been known At least by her and I Any mountains Any obstacles Anything that stood in our way Would easily be torn down Laid to utter waste Anything, including us We were our own doom Our own crucible of condemnation We tore each other to pieces Dismantling our trust And certainly the framework of our love She was first to speak Her words, like knives Cutting so incredibly deep When she was done Removing all that she owned From the home we once shared No longer, never again So eloquently she spoke She walked out I just let her go Goodbye seemed out of place A sad smile Is all that I could make She made something else A sense of relief flooded her face She knew she was free The hole that I had dug was deep To the greatest of depths I went Tearing down all that we had Placing it into the ground Never again Will it be found… Bury The Castle Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
