Good God
A somewhat religious poem about the faith and will of those close to me in my life. |
-Good God- by Keaton Foster Good God Play nice Do things Not out of spite Do them Because you care Because you are aware Of the plight And the fight Of your people Lend them a voice In a silent wilderness Shine them a light In absolute darkness They are entitled And if they are not Then they sure act As if they are I am not one of them I have no need for help Yours or anyone else's I care least of all So little That I am unconcerned But be aware More than most That I have kids And in you they have Somehow found a way They do not see darkness In broad daylight Instead, they see the sun The sky and the world As defined and created by you I am amazed by them And their ability to coexist Instantly they become friends With anyone they meet While I myself become Something quite less Easily they have a heart They ask me on a daily basis Dad can we help Can we donate Can we give of ourselves To serve a higher level of existence I encourage it And I even embrace it I do not repudiate their claims How could I ever That would be counter intuitive They are amazing beings Of peace, love, and understanding I am somewhat jealous of them But more than that I am acutely aware of who I am And who I am not or could ever be Salvation is not in my hands Nor will it ever be Good God I want to however thank you In the most humble of ways For those in my life And those who in despite of me Believe in something so different Something that is not hurting them Or anyone else that I can speak of… Good God Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
