Chapter 1: The Old Era
The Central Clan on the Island of Sothiroc.
The nation of Hirocetel had its beginnings on the island of Sothiroc, where it was originally a part of a nomadic clan known historically as "the central clan". This clan was a Hunter-Gatherer society, and has existed since the Ancient Era. However, it is not until the Old Era that the Central Clan does something of importance. The Central Clan was beginning to split into two distinct branches: The speakers of the Late Proto-Azahnthielic language, and the speakers of the Valāic proto-Azahnthielic language. Two bloodlines and clan affiliates of the central clan spoke Late Proto-Azahnthiel; The Sōthils and the Hirocs (Hē-Rok). The Valāic dialect however was spoken by everyone else; and named after its most notable speaker, Valä the Hunter.
Valä the Hunter had 3 children that would later go on to do something of significant importance. His sons were, from oldest to youngest: Nülä, Salä, and Kalä. Due to their fathers reputation of being the greatest hunter and tracker of the clan, Nülä, Salä, and Kalä found extensive support from the Valāic speakers. In the month of Zezä during O.E 19, Kalä, along with 42 other people separated from the Central clan and headed north to form its own clan. Following Kalä's separation, during the month Menō, Nülä and Salä separated as well. Sōthil and Hiroc then separated the following month of Tenite. The Sōthils took to the north east side of Sothiroc, The Hirocs headed slightly south; and the Sala and Nula clan inhabited the Island of Sanüfacō to the west, away from the rest of the clans.
The Hiroc Chiefdom. O.E 19 - O.E 1090
The Hiroc Chiefdom formed when Ferrō Hiroc separated from the central clan in O.E 19. Those that followed Ferrō were late proto-azahnthielic speakers who supported the Hiroc bloodline over that of the Sothil bloodline. In the past, the Hiroc bloodline was famous for having the greatest hunters and warriors of the central clan, and the Sothil bloodline having best trackers and navigators. The Hiroc Chiefdom was exceptionally successful during its beginnings for a hunter-gatherer society. They traveled around the lands of south and south-western Sothiroc in pursuit of animal herds and edible plants. They brought with them the revolutionary knowledge of how to create and maintain fire, how to construct and operate a wide plethora of stone tools, how to use the hide of animals as clothing and protections, and how to use the world around them to construct temporary homes to protect them from the predators of the night.
The Ferroric Era
The Hiroc Chiefdom in the Old Era can be split into several sub-eras comprising of clusters of the Hiroc bloodline. The first such Era being the Ferroric Era, named after the first chief, Ferrō Hiroc. The 1st Ferroric Era spanned from O.E 19 to O.E 97. During the 1st Ferroic Era, the Hiroc Clan adapted to its new area, way of life, and hierarchy.. Unlike their time in the central clan, which had no government, the Hiroc clan indeed does. The Hiroc clan is structured as a chiefdom, and the most powerful person, the monarch of the clan, is the Chief, the head of the Hiroc bloodline. Chiefdomship tranfers down to the son of the chief once the chief dies. there were no rules other than to obey the orders of the chief. The most prestigious members, the clan nobles, were the strong males, the best hunters. Prestige was often displayed by the size of the hide wore over the nobles shoulders, the larger the hide, the larger the kill, thus displaying that nobles prominence as a hunter.
The Manēonic Era
After the Ferroric Era, was the Manēonic Era; named after Chief Manēō Hiroc and his descendants who began the creation of a military class in the clan. The Manēonic Era lasted from O.E 97 to O.E 354. Much happened to the clan during the Manēonic Era, The creation of a military class, The creation of basic oral laws, the creation of more advanced tools and weapons, the discovery of more complex manners of creating clothing or armor from hide and fur, the discovery of better construction methods, restructuring to the hierarchy of the clan, and the benefits of colonizing a single area become notable as well. The population increased extensively during this time period, rivaling and at one point surpassing the population they once had in the central clan, though unlike the central clan, the Hirocs were undivided, and combined in language, culture, and ideology. The Chiefs also began to spread their duties out amongst some of the clan nobles during this time. The clan nobles still playing an important role in Hiroc society; as they serve as advisers to the chief, as well as role models, and the greatest providers of food. The Nobles bring with them the best of hunting abilities, the best of furs and hides, and the are most knowledgeable in the clan as well. The positions the chief began appointing nobles to were "Unvrēel'EnitāRel" Which literally translates to "God Talker". The Clan God Talker was responsible for interpreting signs in natures, and too determine blessings and omens of a good or bad hunting season. There was also a position known as the clan lawmaker, or clan lawtalker. His duty was to interperet the situation of the clan, and makes rules or laws prohibiting things that become problematic. Only few laws were ever made, leaving his primary job as being someone who communicates and teaches the clan members what the should and should not do. There was another position known as the Clan Judger. The clan judger was in charge of deciding the punishment for those who break the rules and laws of the clan. As well, it can also be noted that in this period, transition from the Late proto-azahnthielic to Early Azahnthiel (Hiroc Dialect) took place.
The Shōnadronic Era
Following the Manēonic Era was the Shōnadronic Era, named after Chief Shōnädron whom invaded the Kalä clan to the north. The Shōnadronic Era lasted from O.E 354 to O.E 498. The Fall of the Kalä clan took place in O.E 454. It should also be noted that during this era, in the year 439 the Salä and Nülä clans combined together creating the Salänü Clan. The Hiroc clan was growing substantially in this time, and consisted of several hundred members. As well, The location of what would become the first permanent settlement was becoming frequently visited by the Hirocs during this period, it would be soon that an established village would occur. Agriculture was beginning for the Hirocs as well too an extent. During the spring, the women would plant seeds of various plants before they went off on hunting expeditions, and then when the clan returned in the late summer, they were greeted with ample supplies of food. By this time, all Clan members were fluent speakers of Early Azahnthiel (hiroc dialect). The governmental structure of the clan remained the same during this period, and the militant branch of clan members began to formalize as well; with its own elected commander.
The Dāgonic Era
After the Shōnadronic Era was the Dāgonic Era; named after Chief Dāgan Hiroc, whom under his rule the first permanent Hiroc settlement was established. The Dāgonic Era took place between O.E 498 and O.E 573 The first settlement was known as Hirnetōnī, and was established in O.E 514. Hirnetōnī consisted of numerous wooden hovels, most built for around 4 to 5 people each, several fire pits, and a house for the chief, as well as a primitive granary and storehouse. Agriculture was still very primitive at this time, but successful nonetheless. During this time a wider variety of advanced stone tools were being developed, using a wide variety of different stone types for different purposes. And the basic understandings of the world around in a logical manner was beginning as well. It should also be noted the the very first confrontations with the Sothils in over 500 years happened in this period; The war-like Hirocs responded with hostility upon first site of them.
The Trēon'Bād Era
After the Dāgonic Era was the Trēon'Bād Era; Named after Trēon'Bād Hiroc whom under his rule the first writing system began to develop. The Trēon'Bād Era lasted from O.E 573 to O.E 685. During this era this meager beginnings of a writing system came to fruition, though it was nothing more than a set of symbols dug into the dirt, or carved in stone, it was still a marvelous creation. During this era the first, yet primitive form of sea and river travel began. The settlement of Hirnetōnī grew in size during this period as well. Aside from the peaceful expansion, all was not entirely well. The Sothils had began noticing the loss of scouts heading south west, and several small skirmishes broke out in this period. The Hirocs, unlike the Sothils, were not much for scouting, and generally stayed only in their own lands.
The 2nd Ferroric Era
After the Trēon'Bād Era was the 2nd Ferroric Era; named after Ferro Hiroc VI whom under his rule the Agricultural revolution began, as well as the preceding of a basic mythological religious affiliation; Also, the conquering of the Salänü Clan happened in this time period. The 2nd Ferroric Era lasted from O.E 685 to O.E 760. It was in this era that at long last, the milestone all advanced Neolithic-type nations hit, An Agricultural Revolution. Ferro Hiroc VI was fascinated with the way the lands could yield for them the what nourishment they needed for survival, and made extensive encouragement for the discovery and implementation of newer and more advanced methods to extract greater amounts of food. It was also of course around the time of the Agricultural revolution, that the first pagan ideologies began to appear. The people of the Hiroc Clan prayed to a god of harvest to bless them and their crops. Following the Agricultural god, Hirnenōvā. came the God of Hunting, Nethtōvā. Aside from the things developed during peace, there was also war in this period. The clan was growing strong, and had roughly a thousand memebers; and Ferro Hiroc VII had plans of expansion. Passed down through oral tradition over dozens of generations, the tale of the "great separation of the Central Clan" was known to the Hiroc Chiefs. And it was known the Sala and Nula traveled west after this event. They had already encountered and destroyed the Kala clan, and now it was time to exterminate the next piece of competition. It was fortunate Ferro Hiroc VII lived a long life, for it took several years to find the Salänü Clan on the western island of Sanüfacō, but find them he did. He sent his forces in and crushed those of the Salänü clan whom did not surrender. The survivors of the Massacre hated their Hiroc conquerors, however, they had to rely on them for survival from this point forward. Less than 200 hundred surrendered, and those who did were taken back to the Island of Sothiroc, and were treated as 2nd class citizens in there new home of Hirnetōnī.
The Sorthic Era
Following the 2nd Ferroric Era came the Sorthic Era; named after Sorthius Hiroc, whom under his rule the discovery of herbs with healing properties took place. The Sorthic Era happened between O.E 760 and O.E 798; only consisting of two chiefs, Sorthius Hiroc and his Son Sorthius Hiroc II. The Sorthic era is a rather small era and not of much importance. Other than the discovery of certain herbs with mild healing qualities, nothing revolutionary happened during this time period.
The Grand Tri'Nerō Era.
the Sorthic Era came one of the most important periods in the Hiroc Clan's history, The Tri'Nerō Era; sometimes referred to as the "Grand Tri'Nerō Era". The Tri'Nerō era is named after a long line of Chiefs bearing the name Tri'Nerō, and lasted from O.E 798 to O.E 981. The first Tri'Nerō was the victim of an attack by the Sōthils during O.E 802. The Sōthils responded to the loss of scouts and hunting parties over the centuries, and retaliated with an entire strike force, taking out several Hiroc outposts and hunting camps surrounding the Settlement of Hirnetōnī. Aside from this loss to the Sōthils, basic irrigation started during this era. The Hirocs observed and understood that water from the river supported vegetation upon its banks, and decided to use the power of water to aid their crops as well.
Under the rule of Tri'Nerō Hiroc II and Tri'Nerō Hiroc III, a code of laws was carved into a stone at the center of Hirnetōnī. These laws were rather basic, prohibiting theft, murder, rule not to disobey the chief etc etc. As well, the Hirocs traded raw materials and precious stones to the Sothils for a ceasefire in their attacks on Hiroc lands, the Sothils agreed.
Under the rule Tri'Nerō Hiroc IV, something interesting happened; It was in his rule that the Sothils undertook a great migration from the Island of Sothiroc, and established a new capital on the Island of Sirentius. This left the Hirocs as being the last inhabitants, and sole owners of Sothiroc. Though the Hirocs were not aware of the Sothils migration until the rule of Tri'Nerō Hiroc V and VI.
Under the rule of the Tri'Nerō Hiroc V and VI, a 2nd agricultural revolution took place, with the advancement of many new farming techniques. During their rule a near complete transition from the Early Azahnthielic language to the Middle Azahnthielic language took place, as well villages began to establish around Hirnetōnī, as the population of the Hiroc Chiefdom was reaching well over 2,000.
During the rule of Tri'Nerō Hiroc VII, the Hirocs Pagan pantheon of gods increased in numbers, as well, complex mythologies and legends began arising amongst the Hiroc villages. Common law was established through the land, and military units kept order in each village.
Tri'Nerō Hiroc The 8th
Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII, the last of the Tri'Nerōs. Under his rule, the Hiroc Chiefdom undertook a formal name: The Clan/Nation of Hirocetel (Hē-Rok-Etel). The population was booming under his rule, reaching over 3,000 inhabitants across many villages. Dirt paths beat into the ground due to travel and trade amongst the villages connected them, and kept the Hirocs unified. During this period they lived on a bartering system. Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII was strict about structuring the power in the Chiefdom, which had been neglected by his dozens of predecessors. Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII made it his duty to apply order to the government of the clan-nation, so that his descendents may still have a nation to control when they take power. Higher emphasis was placed on the Clan GodTalker, and become a very influential man. The Clan Nobles were given the task overseeing a village, and the militias stationed there, and the Clan lawmaker was given the tedious task of going to the many villages, carving in stone a set of common laws to be followed by all the clans, as well as teaching passing them on verbally. The Military/Militia structure was also ratified and perfected by Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII, giving it a descent chain of command.
The Meldoric Era
After the end of the Grand Tri'Nerō Era, and the death of Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII, the Meldoric Era began. Spanning from O.E 981 to O.E 1090, the end of the Old Era. Named after a line of three Meldor Hirocs. During the Meldoric Era, the clans populations grew substantially, unlike it ever had before. Starting the Era with only around 6,500 people, and ending it with almost 12,000 people. It can also be noted that during the Meldoric era, the exploitation of Copper and tin began. The advancement from Stone to Copper technology was revolutionary, as reliable metal edged tools worked far better than the stone tools they were used to. The copper and tin would soon lead to the advent of Brass and Bronze in the Middle Era. The clan-nation began expanding, and eventually encountered some of the old and abandoned Sothil villages, and even there capital. It is also during this time, the Meldor Hiroc the II turned the Chiefdom of the Clan-Nation of Hiroctel, to the Autocratic Despotism of the Kingdom of Hirocetel. Meldor Hiroc of course being the "despot" or King of Hirocetel. The Despot appointed people into two positions under him, The Grand Dictum, and the Grand Judge. The Dictum was in charge of law creation, and the judge was in charge of deciding the punishment of those who break them. A "Shaman Caste" was also created. The Shamans were sole head of religious authority amongst the villages and towns of Hirocetel. The Nobility still maintained power as being the heads of villages and small towns, appointing their own Dictums and Judges to serve under them as well. The transition from Chiefdom to Autocratic Despotism would not have been possible without the restructuring done by his Grandfather Tri'Nerō Hiroc VIII. When Meldor Hiroc III took power, he ratified the government structure slightly, and allowed the people of the villages to elect which nobles they preferred as being their local leader, and also created a "Council of Nobles", which would be a governing body that reported directly to the Despot. The Council of Nobles consisted of the Nobles in Charge of villages, and would all meet in the Capital town of Hirnetōnī monthly. Also a papyrus like paper was invented during the Meldoric Era, and a variety of things were used as ink. With this, the Hiroc writing system become formalized and complete during the Meldoric Era.
Chapter 2: The Middle Era
The End of the Meldoric Age, and the Birth of An Immortal.
Meldor Hiroc III ruled his new nation with an Iron fist as its Autocratic Despot. Towards the end of his rule in the Middle Era the members of the nation of Hirocetel spread all throughout the Island of Sothiroc colonizing it with dozens of villages. Travel was established to the Island of Sanufaco to the west, and villages would soon establish there. It was also during this period of expansion, that they encountered members of the Nation of Retania and their outposts along the north shore. Retania was a highly developed nation, and would come to teach the Hirocs much about modernizing their nation. Also during this time, Meldor Hiroc III had his son Kelboran Hiroc, a son who would soon become the Immortal King of Hirocetel.
The Encounter with the Retanians
When the Hirocs encountered the Retanians, it was an encounter of complete curiosity, as the Retanians had extensively advanced technology in comparison to the Hirocs. The Retanians had advanced boats, and were implementing a wide range of metals such as Copper, Brass, Tin, Bronze, and Iron. Retania was a nation of intellectuals and Scholars, and sent many of them to the Island of Sothiroc to learn the Hirocs language and communicate with their people. Prior to discovering the Hirocs, the Retanians simply used Sothiroc as a mere outpost island for their ships to temporarily Moore before they sailed off to the great beyond. The Hirocetel Despot Melkor soon traveled north to meet with these Retanians as he had much to discuss and learn. The Retanians knew of the Sothils on the northern end of the Island of Sirentius and informed Melkor of this; but the Retanians knew not of the Hirocs, nor that they were a Rival to the Sothils. Melkor was unpleased to hear that his nations long time rival the Sothils were thriving on the large eastern Island of Sirentius. Melkor pleaded to the Retanians to trade their unique metals, as well as how to make and use them in return for anything they could give; in order to compete with the Sothils. The Retanians agreed to this, and only asked for the Retanians to annually supply their outposts with lumber for repairs, food four the journey, and woman for the sailors whilst their boats were moored on Sothiroc. Melkor agreed, and in return a material and intellectual modernization of Hirocetel began.
The Immortal King Takes Power.
It is unfortunate that Melkor did not live to see Hirocetel compete with the Sothils toe to toe; but die he did. In M.E 14 Melkor Hiroc III died and his young son Kelboran Hiroc took power. Hirocetel remained a Autocratic Despotism under the initial term of his rule, but would eventualy change as due to Retanian Influences. Kelboran continued his trade with the Retanians as it was highly fortuitus to himself and his nation. Because of the Retanians, Hirocetel quickly advanced into a Bronze Age. The Population was rising steadily during this golden age of progress and production, it had went from 12,000 towards the end of Old Era, all the way to 16,500. Kelboran encouraged his people to spread out making as many villages as possible, knowing they would all eventually evolve into fully functioning independent towns. The internal economy of Hirocetel was developing at this point as well. With the introduction of new metals, trade become more complex, as these metals were very valuable to the Hirocs.
The Things the Retanians Brought With Them
The Retanians introduced a plethora of things they considered basic to the Hirocs. They brought with them Copper, Tin, Iron, Bronze, and Brass which were traded with the Hirocs. They brought with them techniques of how to smelt and create with these metals. They brought with them revolutionary blacksmith technology and teachings to the Hirocs. They taught the Hirocs how to make great ships. They brought with them the Idea of education, which Kelboran would soon implement. They brought with them the Idea of Monarchy and a Feudal System of Lords, more advanced forms of ink and paper, the invention of the wheel, and how to maintain basic roads. They brought with them new building techniques, and resource gathering methods. They introduced the idea of currency, they introduced the religion of Morgoth, and his 3 hands; Haara, Sothimus, and Pitio. They introduced maps and cartography, which helped the Hirocs understand the world in a much more vast way, and so many more uncountable tools, ideas, philosophies, and techniques which would all prove to be invaluable to the Hirocs.
The First Era of Kelboran
The First Era of Kelboran lasted from M.E 14 when he took power, to M.E 50. By the End of the First Era of Kelboran, Hirocetel would have a population of roughly 40,000. During this time, the governmental system of Autocratic Despotism remained in play, and the religious affiliation of Morgothonä became extensively prevelent in Hirocetel. Morgothonä is the belief the Retanians introduced to the Hirocetel, and it is that the God Morgoth overseers this realm, and that he has 3 demi-god servants named Haara of the Flame, Pitio of Light, and Sothimus of Decay. The Retanians claimed to have met one of these demi-gods, and draws power from them. During this sub-era, many villages started to turn into walled off towns, with rapidly developing local governments loyal to their despot Kelboran. It was also in this Era that Kelboran was marked by his people as being an immortal, due to being almost 50 years old and still having the body of a 21 year old. Kelboran was indeed an Ageless Immortal, born with a defect in his DNA that prevented it from programing his body to age; because of this, Kelboran can live virtually forever unless killed and poisoned. It was during this Era, in the Year M.E 23; that Kelboran set up a program in a few of the towns known as "Alphabet study", in which elders or scribes who knew the Hirocetel Alphabet and language would spend time teaching Hirocetel citizens of any class or of any age to read and write. Kelboran spent a great deal of effort trying to Intellectualize Hirocetel, trying to mimic the Retanians. The Military was completely restructured and centralized into one major branch. With Bronze, and Copper in decent supply, the Hirocs started using weapon and armor making methods given to them by the Retanians to build up a large army. It was apparent Kelboran was planning something large. It should also be noted that the Sothils also had their very own Immortal Lord as well; named Sondo Sothil. Sondo was quite a bit older than Kelboran, born in the early 1,000s of the Old Era, in between the birth of Melkor Hiroc II and III. Kelboran spent a great deal of effort increasing the infrastructure of his nation by building roads and bridges, and doing his best to develop a currency system.
The 2nd Era of Kelboran
The 2nd Era of Kelboran Lasted from M.E 50 to M.E 138. By the end of his 2nd Era the population had reached 78,000 people. During this time, the governmental system made a transition from a Autocratic Despotism to a Monarchy. Kelboran created under him a Judicial Council and a Legislative Council. The Legislative Council was to review the entire nation and makes laws accordingly, and the Judicial Council was to review the legislative councils actions. The Judicial Council comprised of elected officials, educated commoner or nobles; and the Legislative Council was elected Nobility. The "Council of Lords" was converted into a senate, and every town was to have a senator to represent it. Senators were elected within the towns. Villages would be represented by its nearest town. During this time Kelboran sent ships over to the Sothils territories to monitor them. During this time a currency system was developed using Gold and Silver traded to the Hirocs by the Retanians, as well as gold deposits found on the island of Sothiroc itself. The currency system was strange to the people at first, but eventually caught on. Kelboran had a personal troope of goldsmiths at his estate/government house in Hirnetōnī that created gold coins similar to those the Retanians had. Kelboran founded a School in Hirnetōnī, where his personal scribes were to teach the nobility, senators, legislators, and Judges what they new. If you held a political position, Kelboran made it mandatory to attend and gain this information. They all were required to read and write, they all were required to have proper etiquette, and they all were required to have basic math skills, as well as basic science (environmental understanding) skills. Kelboran himself knew how to read and write, and attend these sessions as well. In this Era Kelboran had shrines and churches to the God Morgoth and his demi-gods constructed in all the major towns in his nation. The Hirocs began making their own maps of Sothiroc and Sanufaco, and recorded travel paths to Sirentius and Sothil territories. The Hirocs also began for the first time recording time in an organized manner, and created the Hirocethin Calendar, this calendar would later be revised in M.E. 192 by a Retanian Philosopher visiting the Hirocetel territories.
Fall of the Sothils, and the End of Sondo's Reign
In the late 80s of the Middle Era the Sothils economic system began to crumble right under the hands of their lord Sondo Sothil, and civil war was on the brink of beginning. Upon figuring this out, Kelboran himself and the majority of his army set sail to the shores of Sirentius to Invade the Sothil lands while they were weak. Upon arriving on the shores of Sirentius, they sacked a small coastal Sothil town, whos survivors ran and informed Sondo, who then prepared what troops he could spare, and the best general he could spare to delay the Hirocs from reaching the Capital of Sothius. The Sothil army that greeted Kelborans army consisted of 4,000 tired infantrymen; as opposed to Kelborans 11,000 troops, strong, determined, and ready to destroy their rival since the beginning of their nations conception. Kelborans Army easily tore through Sondos inconvenience he had place between Kelboran and the Capital. It was not long until Kelborans armies reached the City Gates of Sothius; and upon this, Sondo fled the city and traveled to unknown locations. Kelboran invaded the capital city, sacking it to the ground, and building a fort over top of it. For the next few year Kelboran launched campaigns from this mighty palisade fort ransacking the Sothil lands that did not surrender. Once the lands were clear, kelboran and what remained of his army (roughly 4,900 survived) returned to Sothiroc. In M.E 102 several ships carrying citizens traveled to Sirentius to colonize it, and establish Hiroc towns and villages all throughout it; eventually leading to a city being constructed of the Ruins of Sondos former capital Sothius. Kelboran went on to name this city, Hirocethem. By M.E. 117 the City was nearing completion, and held over 13,000 inhabitants. By M.E. 126 A central palace had been constructed within the center of Hirocethem, and it became the capital of the entire kingdom. villages and towns started to appear all around Hirocethem, and many built along the western coast, facing Sothiroc. Now with a capital city, and exacted revenge on their Sothil rivals; the Hirocs felt as if they were unchallengeable.
The 3rd Era of Kelboran.
The 3rd Era of Kelboran lasted from M.E. 138 through M.E 251. It was by M.E. 250 that the population of Hirocetel was reaching well over 200,000 inhabitants. It was during this time that Kelboran ratified the government structure yet again. appointing several different position.
The Hiroc Government
The King = Kelboran Hiroc. The Chancellor = Elected from the nobility to serve a 10 year term; 2nd in command. Grand Senator = Elected from the Senate by the Senate to serve as the Grand Senator for 8 years; 3rd in command. Chief Legislator = Appointed by the Chancellor to serve for 8 years. Grand Judge = Appointed by the King to serve for 8 years. Senator = Elected for 5 years to be a representative for a city-state or region. The Nobility = The only people who can be elected, not a commoners right.
Hirocetel was turning into a Feudal System with a centralized government at this time. As there were several ranks and titles for lords whom were in charge of villages, towns, fiefs, cities, city-states, estates, manors, regions, etc etc. And a chain of command leading back up to the kind and his imediate sentral government. The only non-feudal thing amongst the territories was the senatorial elections and representation of each town, city, and region; in the King's Court. In the year M.E 247 Kelboran made basic education for reading, writing, and mathematics mandatory and required. Other than those few changes nothing of significance happened in this Era.
The 4th Era of Kelboran
The 4th Era fell in between the years M.E 251 and M.E 537. By this time the population was reaching from 350,000 to 450,000. There were various campaigns taking territories to the south. In M.E 513 a major required education reform occurred. During this period trade with the Retanian mysteriously stopped, and not a trace could be detected of them. Though Trade with the Harpinians began. It was in this Era the great wall of Hirocethem was built; a massive stone wall circling the city limits. The Hiroc Military was restructured into a legionary system, not unlike that which was used in the Roman Republic.
The Hirocetel education system after the Reform:
After the reform in M.E. 513 all Hirocetel citizens male or female were required to go to 2 class-levels of education between the ages of 5 and 9. The 1st Class of Education was a required class for both males and females age 5-7; which taught language skills as well as how to read and write. The 2nd Class of Education was a required class for both males and females age 7-9; and taught basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, and multiplication) and basic sciences; most of which being speculated philosophies. The 3rd Class of Education was a recommended class for males, and was free to males. Female families would have to pay in order to attend the 3rd Class. The 3rd Class of education was offered for people aged 9-12; and taught proper grammar, extended vocabulary, and social etiquette. The 4th Class of Education was a recommended class only available to males, and must be payed for too attend. The 4th class was for ages 12-15; and teaches about history and logic. Logic being how to think, and implement proper thought processes to make logical decisions in life. The 5th class of Education is a class that must be payed for to attend; with a fee only the upper class could afford. It is for males ages 15 - 18, and teaches government and economics. The Upper class could afford the 5th class, so that the government class would put their in a position of political power, and the economics class to teach them to be financially superior.
Military School - requires one to have the 2nd Degree of education, but recommends 3rd degree. It teaches and prepares individuals for the enlisted ranks of the military. Chapter 3: End of Hirocetel
5th Era of Kelboran and the Birth of Rothril Sectolith
The 5th Era of Kelboran lasted from M.E 537 to M.E. 975. These centuries of Hirocetel ended up being a very calm and peaceful period; with many developments occurring due to the increased emphasis on education. Extensive Trade was established with both the Nagathians and the Harpinians during this time. Hirocetel also expanded its borders even further south; controlling roughly 2/5 of Sirentius, as well as Sothiroc and Sanufaco. Many cities, towns, and villages existed through the land, and the nation was home to well over a million inhabitants now. Censuses became greatly important during this era, as maintaining and understanding the expanding population was becoming difficult. A gold trade with Harpinia occured during this era to assist with the falling Economy. It was in this time the Hirocetel made a complete transition into the Iron age, due to influences from Harpinia and Nagathia.
In the year M.E. 888 Rothril Atherae Sectolith was born; Son of Grand Senator Boethiah Sectolith. Rothril Atherae Sectolith would go on to graduate from the 5th Class of Education, Attend Military School and Military Accademy; Join the military and serve as a soldier and eventually and officer during war time (conquering of southern terrories from nomadic tribes); would return from the military to continue his education; graduating from the College of Etiquette and Literacy, And the University of Government. He would then become a Senator for 5 years; then returning to military duty becoming a general commanding over 4,800 troops and taking many territories for Hirocetel. He then returned to Hirocethem again, graduating from the University of Science and Historic Understanding. Upon graduation, he ran for the position of Grand Senator, the position he dad had once held, and won his elections. He served as Grand Senator for the full term and becoming friends with King Kelboran Hiroc. While Rothril was Grand Senator, he was also Attending the University of Philosophy. He graduated from the University of Philosophy around the time his term for Grand Senator ended, and he then ran for the position of Chancellor, the 2nd highest position in the land, 2nd only to King Kelboran himself. Rothril won his election for Chancellor by a landslide, and gained high respect from the King. Rothril was an extremely multitalented individual, he was an experienced soldier and fighter, as well as a commander. An expert politician and leader. He was a writer and an Artist, as well as one who studied the arts of Arcane and Sorcery. By the time he was Chancellor he was already reaching 70 years of age, yet his body had aged none; and like Kelboran, he was an ageless immortal. Kelboran was growing suspicious of Rothril, as he had feared for centuries another immortal would come, and that the 3rd immortal would topple his kingdom. The first Immortal being Sondo, whom Kelboran defeated, Kelboran himself being the 2nd immortal, and now this new character appears; Rothril Sectolith, the 3rd Immortal. Rothril having the experience of an elder, and the looks and charisma of a 20 year old earned him high respect from both the masses and the nobility. Kelboran was growing jealous and paranoid that Rothril would soon try to take over his Kingdom; so Kelboran ordered his guards to kill Rothril, saying to those in his court that Rothril has commited an act of treason and heresy by being an immortal like himself. For fear of loosing their own lives, the guards complied. The old, yet young Rothril with all his military experience found it an ease incapacitating the guards sent to kill him, and quick to detect their reasoning, he realized he was now Kelborans target, and that he must escape the city. Rothril made a stealthy escape, and left a message to those loyal to him and to his confidents that he was going to create his own nation outside the borders of Hirocetel, and to gather as many citizens as possible to leave with them. News spread fast through Hirocetel that the hero of the people Rothril had been wrongfully deamed a traitor by the king, and enraged many people. The failing Economy also did not help the situation. Kelboran was loosing support fast, and a mass exodus of thousands of citizens from Hirocetel began. Rothril was vague about where to meet at south of the border, but all clues pointed to one specific location, Morgoth Mountain, the Tallest mountain on the entire Island. Rothrils former legion of 4,800 troops were also loyal to him still, and made their way towards the mountain to assist their former general. Soon all were together with their new leader and former Chancellor of Hirocetel, Rothril Sectolith. Rothril then wrote what would be know as the "Sectolith Treaty of Secession" and sent it to Kelboran, formalizing their secession from the nation of Hirocetel. The Settlement of Morgothium was then established at the foot of Morgoth Mountain.
The final age of Hirocetel, and the Birth of the Sectolith Empire.
From M.E 975 to M.E 1300, Morgothium would turn into an entire City-State under their Immortal Leader Rothril Sectolith. Rothril also gained a powerful Retanian Artifact during this time, an artifact known as the Retanian Scepter. Rothril was hiking on Morgoth Mountain in his free time one day, and stumbled across an entrence to what looked like a cave, but turned out to be an entire temple complex built inside of the mountain. Rothril explored through the ruins of this old temple which hand not been entered in centuries, and came upon a throne room. The Throne room had a pedastle in the middle of it, a pedastle with a large scepter stabbed into the center of it. Rothril grabbed the scepter in an attempt to pull it out, but some was possessed by it instead. The moment his hand touched the scepter, the room illuminated with energy, and a flash of memories and information travelled through Rothril's mind. The Scepter was a highly powerful artifact, that would kill any unimmortal man whom tried to wield it, and it was the powers of this still charged and potent artificat that travelled through the immortal Rothril upon touching it. Rothril travelled back down the mountain and stored the scepter in his manor, then forming together a band of the most intelligent members of the city, and headed towards the temple complex again. They explored it extensively, trying to find all that they could, but translating the Retanian writing all throughout the Temple would prove almost impossible without the assistance of the Harpinians, whom had finished translations of the Retanian Alphabet and Language. The Scepter would prove to be a very essential artifact in the Invasion of Hirocethem which would happen in M.E 1296.
The Government of Morgothium.
From M.E. 975 to M.E. 1300 The settlement of Morgothium would turn into a city, with many towns and villages created around its walls. The Area in which Morgoth Mountain sat, as well as the sourounding areas were known as Matronite. When other villages and towns started appearing around Morgothium, Rothril had an idea for a new system of government that would govern these towns and villages, and it would be known as the Order of Matronite. The Order of Matronite was divided into several councils.
Council of Local Lords and Governing Bodies - This council existed for the unification of the villages and towns, in a "united nations" type of setting, only involving towns not nations. Where the Mayors and Town Councils could all meet in a unified location to discuss diplmacy, trade, territorial control etc etc.
Martial Concil of Matronite - Served as the leading military council of the Matronite region, the decisions for all local police forces were decided here, and the council had the right to form a malitia through draft if needed for non-offensive purposes.
Matronitel Council of High Lords - Is the upper echelon of decision making within the order, the two heads of council are Rothril and an Elected Lord for a 10 year term.
Council of Finance - A group of elected local lords in charge of all financial decision in Matronite.
Council of Representatives - A group of elected officials charged with diplomatically representing Matronite, esspecially those involving relations with the Hirocs.
Invasion of Hirocetel
In M.E. 1296, due to a lack of gold to meet the demands of the growing economy of Hirocetel due to its high population increase rate, caused a Economical Depression to occur. This inevitably led to internal struggles and wars within Hirocetel; and King Kelboran Hiroc loosing his grip of power after an entire millenium. Rothril took this opportunity to attack. All able bodied men were drafted, armed, and armored; and the invasion of Hirocetel began. With all the Legions being stationed inside of cities and towns trying to maintain control for Kelboran, Rothril encountered little resistance on his march to the city of Hirocethem. There was one major problem however; The gates of Hirocethem were some of the Strongest Gates in the entire world, and the wall protecting the city was even stronger. No Ram could destroy these gates, and no siege tower could scale the walls. So Rothril called upon the power of his Retanian Scepter to destroy the gates for him. He concentrated and focused the power of the scepter, and then slammed it to the ground in front of the Gates of Hirocethem. The ground shook beneat him and his army, and a light travelled from the tip of the Scepter, across the ground, and to the base of the gate. A seal started to appear on the gate and illuminated everything near it. The gate began to crack, and in a mere second, shattered to pieces. Rothril and his armies stormed the city dispatching any armed resistance. They eventually breached the palace, and after a short battle, Rothril Slew King Kelboran Hiroc.
The Transference from Hirocetel and the Order of Matronite to the Sectolith Empire.
The following years after the death of Kelboran Hiroc were years of Rothril trying to gain control over all the independant territories of Hirocetel. City-States turned into their own nations controlling the towns and villages sourounding them, and had to be negotiated with in order to Join Rothril's new Empire. Painstakingly after almost 50 years had gone by, the old territories of Hirocetel were all joined together under one imperial banner, with Rothril as their Immortal Emperor. Rothril went on too improve the failed Hirocetelian Economic system, and rebuilt all that was destroyed. Morgothium became his empires Capital, and the city of Hirocethem was renamed after Rothril himself.
