Villain part 6
Rated: 13+ | Fiction | Dark | #1865352
Part 6 of Villain, I hate writer's block
It was well into the afternoon at the precinct before Joey had finally gotten an explanation.
"You're telling me that there's some lunatic vigilante running around the world killing people and that YOU" he directed this towards Riordan, "have been the only one willing to work on it." He didn't take to the news very well.
"Is everyone else in law enforcement really that thick? Don't they want to stop him?"
"Don't be too hard on them Joey" replied Riordan "no one asks questions above their pay-grade and the higher ups don't want to start a panic. I shudder to think of what would happen if they actually tried, could you imagine the news broadcast, 'This just in, police from around the world are shifting their attentions to a mass murderer. This murderer, dubbed Villain by authorities, is credited for killing over a hundred people all around the world, leaving no clues of his identity behind'. That part alone would raise the hysteria levels through the roof."
After hearing this from Riordan, Joey simply gave a sigh of surrender. "Whatever the case may be, I don't like it one bit. But I suppose that doesn't make much of a difference now does it?"
At this Riordan shrugged, as if it really was the only possible answer to the question. Joey sighed again and tried to regain his composure. "Well, at the very least you can count on our support Riordan. Even if you get nothing from everyone else."
Riordan broke into a smile that instantly broke whatever tension was left in the room. "I'm glad to hear it" Riordan said as he went over to Joey and patted him on the shoulder.
After this, Joey finally noticed that something was missing from the room. "Hey, where did Anna go?"
"Oh, she left a few minutes ago. She went to see Monica. Must have gotten a hit on some of the evidence"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The elevator let out a small ding as it arrived on the bottom floor. Once it had opened, Annabelle stepped out and walked with a brisk pace towards Monica Barrera's forensics lab. As she entered the room, she was immediately greeted by the ever-chipper forensic investigator."Buenas Noches seņorita. How are you?"
Monica was originally a native Spaniard, but ten years ago she transferred over to Annabelle's team. She had a slender, almost hourglass figure, and she had a nice, light-brown skin tone. Annabelle fondly remembered their first encounter.
When Monica first arrived she could barely speak a word of English and Annabelle had only known a few smatterings of Spanish. Annabelle had gone to pick her up, but had no idea where she lived. The conversation that followed had the two feeling like strangling each other. Mercifully, the GPS could be set to Spanish and Monica was able to enter in her address.
Now, Monica's accent was the only tell she had that showed she was not a native speaker and Annabelle was fairly fluent in Spanish as well.
"I'm doing fine Monica. What did you find?"
"Straight down to business then? Well, I have absolutely nothing as far as to who could have done this. There's not a single fingerprint, blood drop, or even shoe print that didn't belong to one of the victims. The guy you're looking for hides his tracks well."
"We already knew that. Did you call me down here just to tell me you have nothing?"
"Mi dios of course not. You never let me finish. The gun you had me backtrace, was thankfully a common sales item and I was able to pinpoint where it was sold."
"Where?"
"Gloversville, Fulton county"
"Thanks Monica" Annabelle said as she turned to leave.
         "Wait a minute" Monica shouted.
"What is it?"
"How's Riordan? I haven't seen him in a while."
"He's alright I guess."
"What do you mean?"
"This case is a bit of a thorn in his side."
"Care to explain?"
Annabelle paused for a moment, trying to figure out a way to explain it.
"... Well you see..."

(thank you very much for reading this chapter.

It helps me figure out what I'm doing right and what mistakes I'm making.)
