Our life is built in blocks of time that nourish our future.

PYRAMIDS OF PROMISE

You look at me – blinded
Transparent as glass, you search
Meadows, we’ve walked and lingered
Still baffled when a doe feeds from my hand

You ask my essence - how I can trust
There is beauty in broken wings that heal
The once captive dove still a symbol of peace
Released - she forgives and chooses flight again

Pedestals of broken glass crumble
Azure waters sweeping memory to sand
Where children will laugh and lovers will love
Rhythmic waves on the shores of life meant to give

You look at me - fear I am blinded
Ethereal vapor meant but for the heavens
Vision clouded by butterflies that lit on my hand
Choosing paths of impossible odds to find warmth again

You give me warmth - I feel you
The brilliance of your eyes in the starlight
Duality of your passion, melding fire and heart
Creating symphonies of intellect and gentle progressions

Vision is the path we choose to create
A linen stretched taunt, free from hue or touch
Is brushed in oils of vibrant corals and gentle pastels
Bearing the canvas of our humanity in patinas of tolerance

You ask me to forget - one who mattered
A wall we’ve yet to scale and sentimental mortar
Pieces, an intricate puzzle whose image is abandoned
But whose journey was embedded in that which you cherish

We have a choice - pyramids of promise
Steeped in wonder and respect of ageless time
Remove a brick and the integrity is threatened to fail
We build our lives in moments of grace meant to endure

Love retained bears no threat
Only bitterness bleeds into rivers of hope
Silt on the banks carries nourishment to the fields
Where life is fed in quartz and clay to sustain another

You are another - a journey just begun
Trust granted in moments, time and transparency
Blushed with promise we travel gently the gifts of past
It is what I have and all that I am that cannot be abandoned

Where we will go - I cannot promise
I rest in your arms serene in the landscape
I am made of faith covered in down to pillow you
I know no other way but to blanket you when you are chilled

Gifts become our legacy of time
The dreams wrapped in sunsets and dawns
What is unveiled a mystery to treasure in the passage
That we climb this mountain together is more than enough for now
