High In the Colorado Mountains

High in the Colorado Mountains is a picturesque sight. There is a story that is told, in this piece, about an Indian maiden. She was of a tribe that has a reservation on the mountains. Anyway, she fell in love with a man from the mountains and wanted to be married. The Chief of the tribe forbade it from happening.



It was a happening that made the maiden do something rash. She threw herself off the mountain.It was done on May 4, 2002. The Chief was heartbroken about it and never let it die. On the anniversary of the date the wolves would bay at the moon. They let their mournful cries be heard atop one of the mountains.



The ghost of the maiden is said to rise up from the depths of the mountain. It does no harm to anyone but it will raise up and walk the top of the mountain on the anniversary of her death.
