how we got through

We carried each other.
Celebrated each other.
Our existence was never
Miserable when another
Was there to cheer us up.

They wondered how we got through?
We prepared for stormy weather
For ourselves,, our sisters and brothers
For our fellow laborers in the field
In the community, in the church.

We were help.
The system worked
When we needed help
It was there for us
And that's how we got through our endeavors.
