Florida
Florida is a peninsula surrounded on 3 sides by water but so much more... |
Prompt 2, Tango Poem, ABCB rhyme. 4 line stanzas. Syllable count 9,10,11,12. “Florida” My home is where the sandpiper plays Scent of sweet jasmine and orange the air. Key Largo where Bogey and Bacall did stay. There wave the green palms and the crocodiles do stare. As bongo moon plays staccato tune Hemingway takes leave of his thatch-roofed bar; makes sunken footprints in the smooth skin of beach and says: “I smell orange and jasmine in the stars.” Early the flora and wild things sing. Sandpipers run to and fro from the shore; double-dare the surf to catch their tiny feet as wafting orange and jasmine float near my door. |
