Lake Of Ice

In the moonlight glimmering,
A silver pool shimmering,
In the midnight pulsing
To your heartbeat waltzing
Rippling in the unity of hearts adoring,
O’er the smooth glass soaring.

Beneath the universe’s twinkle,
So beautiful, without a wrinkle,
Ever faster, ever fleeter,
You master me, ever sweeter.

But starry night turns to storm,
And lover’s flight transforms,
Passion pouring treasure's cruel device,
Desires imploring pleasure without price.

And now an icy lake you skate
Carving scars of bitter fate,
The night now has no star,
The white skates cut and mar, –
Out across my glassy surface clear,
So close I feel you, far and yet so near.

I can't explain the inspiration for this one. I was reading back through journals of my life and it just came up out of nowhere. Please forgive my amateur poetry skills.

No particular form. Kinda made it up myself.

Four verses, 6 lines, 4, 4, 6
Rhyme scheme:
1: a, a, b, b, c, c
2: a, a, *bc, bc
3: a, a, bc, bc
4: a, a, b, b, c, c

*Word rhymes used in verses 2 and 3: faster, master; imploring, pouring.
