Fear Freezes the Soul
Rated: E | Poetry | Contest Entry | #1869523
When fear takes control.
Terror paralyzes the body, mind and soul.

Rational thought would say flee or fight
yet all rational has fled.

Screams become whispers.

The heart beats in your chest
as if it were an animal within a burning cage.

Vivid images flash with the mind’s eye
as everything becomes surreal.

Caught, nowhere to run
all pretense of preparation
is for naught
as horror freezes
the
soul.
