HE WHISPERED YOU CAN GO

Her gift was trust, no broken vows,
She’d never walked that path
She tried more love and only found,
A deeper darker wrath

The cheek she turned was met with red,
So lost she prayed a stay
But pinned in pain, no marriage bed,
She watched faith slip away

Her husband’s fear, unfounded once,
Became her hiding place
In dreams alone He held her close,
And promised greater grace

When walls were hard, her body soft,
He held her in His arms
His promises her only hope,

And as she watched her father pass,
Her silence for his peace
Her husband’s cries were mute to her,

When broken grief was met with fists,
He softly wiped her tears

And when she thought the best of her,
