One Town, One Heart
Rated: E | Poetry | Other | #1870041
A poem I wrote to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Joplin tornado.
Disaster struck on May 22nd 2011

And came with a terrible cost

A tornado touched down and in its wake

Many a home and a life were lost

The people of Joplin have come together

With a spirit unbroken and strong

To rebuild their town and also their lives

As side by side they all work along

Now people are smiling once more

As their lives are beginning anew

With hearts full of faith they are starting again

While helping each other get through

Time is what it’s going to take

With everyone doing their part

But Joplin is one small town

That has a very big heart !
