Memorial Day is a questionable treat
all full of camping and bar-b-qued meat
but I am afraid I don’t like either one
so this active weekend is really no fun

the last time I grilled we had ash but no food
and me plus a tent equals not a good mood
picnics are awful because of the ants,
the crowds of mosquitoes, the stinging wasp dance

and so on this Monday when others go out
getting sunburned and soaked while they’re goofing about
I’ll be calm and composed with my internet on
and I’ll post something funny for writing.com
