|On a fine morning,misty morning,
A worm had surfaced.
Glad he was,excited he looked,
At the warm spring sun.
His father told,of the white circle,
Mesmerized,enchanted,entranced stood he ,
Till a wind caught his attention.
Timely turn ducked he did,
Escaped claws of fate.
Hid till tension cleared, till fate took off,
Heart beating like drums,surfaced.
Days after, longing to view the sun,
Resurfaced and bold he was.
Enjoyed the view,warm presence,
When the claws came back for him.
Ducked and dodged,missed by chance,
Luck gave him strength.
But claws had a voice, who spoke to him,
"How can you get away!?"
Shocked by this, the worm saw the bird,
Admiring it's beauty,he asked.
"What are you?"
"Well,I'm a bird dear friend!"
"Why do you chase me?"
"Your food for my children!"
"I take anyone who's around here.
"You are different,other had fear!"
"I like the sun,it is warm"
"If you want,I will take you there!"
"Oh but no,I have my family to see,
"Children to care,and much more."
"Then when it is time, you see me.
"I will take you closer to the sun"
Worm was filled with delight,
Raised his family,taught his children.
Years go by,finally alone,
He longed to see the sun.
He gathered his spirit,
Resurfaced to be greeted by the sun.
Watching the warm fill in,
Sensed the bird's presence.
The bird flew down for the catch.
Yet again luck was with the worm.
"My friend,your back.
"Ready to greet the sun?"
Looking back at the soil for the last,
Of time with his father,
Of time with friends,
Of time with children.
Heartfelt sigh with a sad nod.
The claws took him gently,
Over grand landscapes,
Towards the warm bright sun.
