An Acrostic Poem written for the Poetry Parlour Contest |
Midnight Midnight where history ends, yet begins In darkness where secrets are kept. Dance the spirits of the night, Never to see the light, Insight to the magic of night, Giving hours of delight, Haunting dreams perhaps in fright, The witching comes to an end. Acrostic Poetry Type Formed by writing a word vertically down the page One letter per line All capital letters Each line of poetry must begin with the letter on that line and must pertain to the word May use one word or a phrase Does not have to rhyme Use adjectives and phrases that describe the word Example: Giving pleasure to those who play Anyone can win More than one player Everyone gets a turn Sportsmanship is the key |
