Tonight
Rated: E | Poetry | Romance/Love | #1871961
Seeing the ghost of a loved one the night before a funeral
Tonight

Take me by the hand love
Promise me you won’t let go
Your hollow empty eyes
Are unnerving you do know

Tell me you won’t leave now
You whisper time can’t tell
As darkness fills our eyes
Life starts to feel like hell

Slowly stars are disappearing
Taking our lights glow
Your silhouette I once knew
Is now an empty shadow

My memory plays tricks on me
Your presence I feel still
My innocence was first
Life without you broke my will

Tonight,
I had you in my sight
Your heart I wish to feel
My mind showed me a lie
Your soul I want to steal

The casket starts to bury
Butterflies feel like fear
Tears forming make eyes blurry
Each day seems longer than a year

Don’t know what’s left inside me
Even daylight isn’t clear
Never thought I’d lose you
Leave you alone lying here

Tonight,
I had you in my sight
God just showed me hell
Why we say goodbye
The answer God won’t tell
