Inspired by Venus Transit 2012
Rated: E | Poetry | Environment | #1872017
A poem inspired by watching Venus Transit 2012.
A small little dot,
Moved across the sun,
Slowly it passed,
But soon it was done.
They called it a transit,
They made it a show,
They said come watch it,
Look at Venus go!
So I watched on the web,
And I pondered what I saw,
I wondered about the rarity,
I wondered about the awe.
It's rare for us,
As individuals that's true.
Compared to the universe though,
It's really nothing new.
On that scale it's happened
A hundred hundred times or more.
How brief our lives are,
That reality hit to my core.
It makes you realize
You can't live in the past.
It makes today precious
As it goes by so fast.
And tomorrow if granted
Don't fritter away,
It's such a gift!
Treat it that way!
