Carolina Morning
Rated: E | Poetry | Spiritual | #1872020
What I was feeling one morning here in NC.
The sun rose this morning,
Into a sky of Carolina blue,
No cloud was there to greet it,
And not even a wisp of wind blew.
Dew glistened on the grass,
And birds sang their song,
The morning was peaceful, soothing,
After a night so sleepless and long.
The air crisp and cool,
No humidity of which to speak,
The most beautiful morning,
In well over a week.
As I looked at my yard and the sky,
At the trees and the grass,
At the bushes and shrubs and wee little bugs,
I felt my cares lessen if not pass.
Oh I am still filled with stress.
Still unsure what to do.
But on a morning like this,
When things look so new,
It's hard to not appreciate
The good things I've found.
So while things are not perfect,
And problems abound,
At least for now,
And perhaps for all day,
I've said with a prayer,
"God, please take over today.
I need this break.
Grant me some sleep.
Watch over my loved ones.
My soul yours to keep."
