Sirius walks the Beach
Sirius the 'Dog Star' in the summer sky. Where 'the dog days of summer' saying originates. |
Walking along the seashore, reflecting upon youthful years, the times when Sirius walked the beach. The breeze lifts the strands of graying hair, a reminder of the breathless exuberance of chasing every dream. The sun's golden rays shine upon the water and the sands sift endlessly away. Years spent in the blink of an eye. In the scheme of things it seems as dew drops on a waterfall. Tides leave the sands rushing out to meet the sea. Summer's enchantment has struck. Once more Sirius walks upon the shore. Poem is 15 lines long. Note about the poem: This poems inspiration was “a short shots contest” picture of a dog on a beach. Only the golden colors were present in the picture. All this made me think of the saying “The dog days of summer are upon us.” In the summer, Sirius, the “dog star,” rises and sets with the sun, this is where the term “Dog Days of Summer” originated. |
