Lonely in the sahara
Rated: 13+ | Poetry | Environment | #1872608
A documentery inspired poem about an old lion, true and very clever, amazing,
The mighty roar breaks the silence
His pride work for king and cub
A world of survival and violence
he didn't see them coming

Two young brothers on their way
around the side-lines sneaking
werever old king was, they lay.
Cubs playing in the heated sun

From nowere the attack took place
Two young against the old stud
his prior battle scars on his face
to protects his strong heritage

Now he is old yet the fire is there
but the brothers youthful pride
outnumbered it was too unfair
I cried as he left his cubs to fate

So the brothers start a family new
the lioness each one with child
wandering around with mates of two
proud of their new found queens

they didn't sense the old male king
following his females but never seen
in the sidelines aound he'd ring
were once those boys had been

Wisdom used he took no chance
first blow the weaker was slain
wich left now one fatal dance
he watched, and chose his time

the mighty king lions roar enraged
Finally a confrontation amazing
fought with size,wisdom though aged
now one brother down and alone

The muscular bodies fought till death
the king though weakened was solid
I looked away at youths dying breath
but overjoyed at the stealthy king

natures hold had his own cubs born
as I watched them walk into the sands
if read as a book i would have had scorn
but a true miracle it was to me,dedication
