Claude the Cannibal
Rated: E | Poetry | Comedy | #1872873
Written while something was eating me.
Claude kissed the ground and spread the news
about his brand new pair of shoes.
It made him grin and beam with pride
to tell the members of his tribe.

The shoes were red with oval lace
allowing Claude to up his pace.
For it had always taken time
to travel home from Shore and Vine.

Claude noticed power in his step,
he liked the tongue and the instep.
The heel was different from the soul,
and so that made Claude feel more whole.

Around the camp Claude proudly strode,
past every cannibal abode.
Some cannibals remarked, one day,
"Claude seems higher in every way."

Claude visited a nearby clan
and since he had new shoes, he ran.
His feet felt fine, with great import,
because they had an arch support.

The day was blustery and hot,
when Claude noticed a boiling pot.
It piqued his curiosity--
its height made it quite hard to see.

Yet Claude was able to relate
the contents of their dinner plate.
Claude rose above and spread the news,
for his were elevator shoes.
