I Walked My Daughter Down The Aisle
Rated: E | Poetry | Family | #1873321
A father's thoughts for father's day! Childhood's end.
I Walked My Daughter Down The Aisle

I walked her down the wedding aisle
The first few steps seemed a mile
My little girl, in white gown and wide smile
As down the wedding aisle we file

The party looked on her beaming face
Then it seemed a faster pace
Through my mind images race
Of a newborn babe in white wedding lace

I saw her wrapped in swaddling clothes
Covering tiny body from head to toes
Why these thoughts heaven knows
Now her face brightly glows

My legs seemed they weighed a ton
So hard that aisle's course to run
But at the end I knew I won
Lost not a daughter but gained a son!
