Tear theTemple Walls Down, original
Rated: E | Poetry | Inspirational | #1873415
Inspired by a news story of modern pagans illegally worshiping Eshmun secretly in Lebanon.
Tear the Temple walls down!
Oh! How the faithful weep!
Deface, disgrace, erase, defeat!
Force the Gods into Eternal sleep.

Tear the Temple walls down!
Oh, hear our battle cry!
Today they claim their sacrament,
Tomorrow they shall die.

Tear the Temple walls down!
Oh, yes, we claim our right!
We are the victors of this land,
By our strength and might!

But stones, they don't stay buried,
Oh, see the Sacred rise!
The Gods may take Their slumber,
Yet meet not Their demise.

Build the Temple walls up!
Oh, guard the moss co’red ruins!
Approach the altar of your God
To offer up your boon.

Build the Temple walls up!
Oh, come you Pilgrim brave!
Dance beneath the Tyrant’s gaze,
Your purpose bold yet grave.

Build the Temple walls up!
Oh, hear our joyful cries!
Let the Gods be praised again,
And bless us all our lives!
