Dreams of You
Dreaming of a lost child... |
For Conor… Dreams of You By Terri Lynn Cummings Gazing at the way you tilt your head to smile at me As I hold you, reading picture books that you can see. Smiling softly while you comb my fingers through your hair – Cradled head against my breast, deep love I know we share. Hearing songs you sing without the words you cannot speak, Draw me to your room to place a kiss upon your cheek. Peaking ‘round the corner, spying on your movements to - Brand them on my memory and pull them out on cue. Showing nature’s beauty to you while we play along, On your back, beneath the trees, you hear leaves’ windy song. Rolling balls into the street you turn to watch my face - Gleeful of your prank, I roll my eyes before the chase! Dancing drops of water fall from ears burned by the sun, Butterfly perched on your head is joining in the fun. Swimming in the pool, our laughter splashes here and there - Swirling clouds of happiness lift spirits everywhere. Breathing in the summer scent still floating on the breeze, Dragonfly strolls down your nose while tickling forth a sneeze. Feeling cold, I wonder where the summer heat has flown – Glowing sun will never rise again the way I’ve known... Sitting up to see your picture smiling down at me, School clothes worn that day are neatly pressed I’m glad to see. Reaching to caress your face, my hand is met at last – With glass musings of life lived now only in the past. Knowing you send memories to help me move along, Living life without you always feels a little wrong. Hoping I will see you when my dreams will never end - Loving you completes my life, and loneliness will mend. |
