A Thousand Miles of Fire
A poem about inner turmoil, the fight of my heart and the destruction of my mind. |
-A Thousand Miles of Fire- by Keaton Foster Flames breathe Madness believes Wilderness of trees Representing dreams Burn Screaming as they die Replaced by nightmares Made astoundingly real A thousand miles of fire Burning beyond control Consuming everything Devoid of sympathy and regret Nubile creatures stand no chance With all sincerity, I fight to save them Like I always have, I fail them When they need me most of all Experienced wolves The apex predators of my mind Flee, deeper into the recesses Howling as they go Promising to return to me in due time Liars to themselves as well as me Ancient foliage, cornerstones of my dreams Once easily manipulated by ideas spread Quickly are being suffocated No blessed thoughts or ideals Can save me this time Death by flame Burning away all that I am Leaving only ashes to be spread A wicked wind will certainly be next Into a billion directions I will be whipped Never again to be whole A complete monster of a being Laid to waste by a spark Placed to the fuel of my heart A thousand miles of fire Burning all that can be Destruction is king My true god of nothing Everything in me stands no chance Of ever being as one again Doomed by a spark And the highly flammable Nature of my ways… A Thousand Miles of Fire Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2012. |
