A vacant house laments as she yearns for occupants to give her purpose.
Here I stand:
Stately and strong.
Solid and still.

Here I stand:
As ceiling meets roof, soaring high, brandishing a brave facade while hiding in my eaves the lacking social in my structure.

Here I stand:
As my rafters, gone batty, audibly groan their displeasure.

Here I stand:
As my floors remain supportive despite the absence of wax and footfalls which bestow luster and meaning.

Here I stand:
As cavernous spaces, nestled deep within me, echo their yearnings to womb melodies of conversation, laughter and tears.

Here I stand:
As my mute, naked walls silently scream for a fresh cloak of semi-gloss adorned with Crayola masterpieces and sticky hand prints.

Here I stand:
As my unfulfilled closets, long barren and emptied, dream of housing sweaters, stilettos, sneakers and jeans.

Here I stand:
As dormant porcelain fixtures churn within my bowels, mourning their unproductive vascular works.

Here I stand:
As I suffocate in the loneliness of the hollow, resounding, bellowing, deafening stillness that permeates throughout.

Here I stand:
As my souless windows gaze upon the Divine Gardener's handiwork sprawling and crawling across my unkempt yard.

Here I stand:
As the wiry vines meander and maneuver their agile appendages up my sun-blistered siding.

Here I stand:
As the wild foliage creeps and cascades over my decaying, grinning picket fence.

Here I stand:
As I bear silent witness to the greenery's relentless quest to secure adoring glances.

Here I stand:
As life seeks life; but to no avail.

Here I stand:
Waiting and wanting.
Vacant and void.
