Reassurance

Sitting in a corner,
hugging my knees,
to my chest,
alone

Helpless and uncertain,
life seems to have lost,
its meaning

Trying to find what is missing,
Memories of physical moments,
possessions, and places
give no comfort

The pain and tears swelling within,
feelings of helplessness,
and giving up grows stronger

Nowhere else to turn,
bowing my head,
the words escaping from my lips

“Please father, hold me and comfort me
without you I am nothing,
I am lost and alone
I am scared and confused.
Father, I need a hug”
