Veterans of Honor
Rated: E | Article | Other | #1876815
This is kind of a look at veterans issues, it highlights Veterans day
Veterans Of Honor
Lisa Ann Noe

Americans seem to disregard a very special holiday.
Veterans Day, which comes once a year, for those who wish to know it is on
November 11.    It is a holiday that should be respected and highly honored because so many veterans come back home after war; and they’re changed.

Some gave the ultimate sacrifice, their life.
Others received physical injuries like loosing body parts or being paralyzed the most important insult to the veteran is that he has been attacked, mentally.  We the American Public don’t realize the sheer horror of war.
The frustration of dealing with sarcastic officers, being treated like the property of America.  Being mentally abused and talked down to, Not all officers are bad but it only takes a few to give them a bad reputation. They have to deal with so  much turmoil.  Then they have a war and they must shoot to kill, people , keep that in mind.  They are shot at, some hit , many blown up,
And the horror goes on and on. Some wars, are worse than others; Take the Vietnam War, some of our warriors were spit on and called baby killers, they were not cared about, they had no support from the government or the people.  I shed tears for those who served there because of their  insults and the sheer terror they had to deal with.  Some of our soldiers died due to the ignorance of the higher-ups in so called friendly fire incidents., the people in charge had no idea what they were doing and it killed many people.  If I seem like I’m spending too much time recalling the Vietnam war, of which my father fought in, then that’s just too bad. Because I’m never going to shut my mouth when it comes to that horrid war.  I didn’t mention the Agent Orange chemical that was spread all over the jungles.  My father’s job was at the base where they stored it and he sprayed many of his comrads, he died in 1986 as a service related death, he was exposed to that chemicaal.  He never got over the fact that he spread this spray of death on his own people.  He had a hard time coping with that, he was a caring simple man, who was patriotic, and very intellegent. He received many medals from the military including a couple from Vietnam in which he was sited for humanitarian issues.

All of the wars are brutal my Grandfather was wounded in WWII , he received  the purple heart and a silver star.  There are so many stories in everybody’s family, about true heroes who risk and sometimes loose their lives in a war.  Remember Veterans day, that’s why you have liberty and freedom for all.  Honor a Veteran and respect those who serve, even in peace time They stand ready at a moments notice to follow the instructions of their officers and sergeants. Pay homage to the men and women who support and defend this great nation called America.
